clearly i should have read though the comments first, but the original tamper will not fit on this basket. i also have the normcore tamper that is 51.5mm that fits the original basket perfectly but will not go into the hugh. you will need to buy a regular 51mm tamper. the hugh basket itself does screw in nicely into my picopresso where the la pavoni basket did not - it made a screeching noise and did not hold pressure, leaking out the sides. while waiting for a 51mm tamper, i used a puck screen and finger-tamped the puck down - didn't produce optimal pressure but seems like there is no leaking at least.

Can you please share what make you choose Hugh over the La Pavoni post-millennium? I hesitate pulling trigger on the La Pavoni as some (like 30% of the reviews) reported the basket does not fit perfectly

La pavoni ims does fit the picopresso but you cant close it completly. Still working and its sealed tight. I wouldnt use the basket with a machine. Also i wonder if the hugh fits better or if its the same as the ims. ☮️

I just got my picopresso. I am practicing dialing in. I do use a lighter roast and when I pump, there is a lot of pressure. After watching so many videos of people using the picopresso, I decided to get one for its portability while traveling, camping. First thing I’ve noticed for the ladies out there…if you have small hands, it is hard to pump. To wrap your fingers around and clasp and pump. I was surprised at the pressure. Then I had a duh moment..all the videos I had been watching were only men using the picopresso. So I went on a hunt to find women and their thoughts. Found you Thanks for the video. Did you find it harder for your hands? Mine, I thought are small to avg closer to the small. I buy small gloves etc. I’m a pianist too, so I thought my hands are pretty dang strong but I did find it hard to pump all the same. Guess my hands will get stronger using it but it’s not my everyday coffee machine. Just sayin

What was the difference between the first espresso you made and the second espresso you made? Was there a difference in the basket? @@carlosvertigo thanks for the compliment! Ya I do believe the basket affects how much extraction occurs depends on the basket’s holes and the perforation technology. It is one of the factor, meanwhile it also depends on the water temperature, grind size, pressure and the way we tamping the coffee.

Many said that changing ims basket not really make big difference, maybe the stock basket is actually not that bad overall, btw i still don't understand why they didnt make the basket with straight wall in design. I bet you are just waiting for the pressure gauge to complete the setup 😄

Absolutely I agreed what you said! I personally think it doesn’t making big difference but I prefer the straight wall design. Since then I found myself love the brown sugar espresso so much.

I use the ims screen too and it makes a difference imo . But you dont have to buy the bplus puck screen imo. A cheap one does the job. The amount of holes is lower than on a straight wall basket so its easier to build up pressure. If you change to straight wall and more holes you have to grind finer to get the same pressure.

Should the base of the bottom of the basket be flat or is it slightly convex?
