I have a theory. Hugh's pet peeve status, evident throughout the interview, is a clear consequence of his having to play an affable, overly civilized, entitled British man about town and never quite being able to state his true opinion about things specific or in general only because it would have either been out of character for him to do so or inappropriate at best as a member of the stoic British public. My advice to the tormented Mr. Grant is to purchase an entire 12 place setting of the Villeroy and Boch persuasion, enclose himself in a room with marble floor tiling and with the background of some dramatic Italian opera piece, break every last dish before something breaks him.
