What an incredible interview. I just love Hugh Grant on so many levels. He has a lot of depth. And of course, that dry British wit and self-deprecating humor. (I'm American). I loved watching this. He would be amazing in politics. He is far from just a pretty face and a well-known actor. He is so classy, intelligent, and articulate.

He's been on quite a run of them during the 'Heretic' film press run, and each one is different. You could (or rather, should) watch them back to back and you wouldn't be bored

@@YellowPressBooks I would also like to add Mr grants dialogue in the film Heretics blew me away , I thought how on earth does he remember all the tricky lines on religion when talking to those poor young ladies , my heart broke for them , he frightened me , then drew me in as a nice guy then terrified me , how clever that it wrapped up with empowerment, a very , very oscar worthy performance Mr Grant , so proud of you .

This is a lovely interview and we're learning about Hugh without it seeming to be a reading of his c.v. He's being modest about his capabilities as an actor. My favourite films of his are the early ones, made out of Hollywood - Maurice, etc.

@YellowPressBooks lucky you. Despite the Divine episode, he comes across as a decent human being. I'm glad he married and has a family as it'll help ground him. I've been a fan since seeing him in Maurice although I've not seen some of his formulaic, paint-by-numbers, Hollywood films. I hope he's not now pigeonholed into playing bad guys.

Agree about the interview, Hugh Grant talks in a very honest way, quite prepared to mock himself, and passionately about the media, while not trying to act as though Hacked Off is all about him. I like About the Boy, where he was the opposite of the romantic hero, and the relationship between Will and Marcus.

No catastrophe on you dear Hugh on the Oscar red carpet.... you referred to the fabulous book "Vanity Fair" and she had no idea that you were referring to such a great piece of literature. She immediately referred to the Vanity Fair after party. This American was so embarrassed. Your reference to the Oscars, the glam, the self indulgence to the 1848 Vanity Fair was perfectly on point.

@@YellowPressBooks Hugh Grant drew an interesting distinction between the way TV is regulated, where impartiality and factual accuracy are highly important, and the way the press is regulated which is very light touch when it comes to the same matters.

After age 6o, I think we all start getting more nervous and agitated because we know that our minds are suddenly not "remembering" as we used to. Hugh says this as well, as he describes how nervous and agitated he can become now, where he wasn't before.

I watched this on my laptop, using wifi, after a week's binge of North Korean stories of escape, laws, craziness... so "getting rid of the internet" seems silly. If people WANT to take a break, or not to have it, then that's a choice. Freedom and choices are pretty important, 🙂 Telling someone they can't do something because you don't want them to tends to backfire. Kids need to live where they live and WHEN they live. I have four young grandchildren, and we play video games WITH them, and I watched an elamorate coloring game for a long time two days ago. Pining for the old days is Little-House-on-the-Prairie fantasy nonsense. Otherwise, this was all great. 🙂 Also I've watched six or so long youtube reviews of Heretic, by former Mormons, current Mormons, and a great one by a never-a-mormon actual movie reviewer. :-) Internet. I wouldn't have known of Heretic if not for the internet. I'm 71, in New Mexico, have three grown kids and five grandkids and I have zero fear of "devices."

Hiya - thanks for your feedback. We did have a slight technical issue with the roving mic.. the live audience could hear the questions clearly but you are quite right, the issue came with the recording. We made necessaryadjustments for the next Q&A which we will publish in a couple of weeks, and were statisfied with the results! Always keen to hear advice and criticisms, and improve where we can!

Great question! In fact, Hugh gave his time at a Yellow Press Books event, in partnership with Press Justice Project. Yellow Press is a new independent book publisher, that publishes stories that focus on truw crime, media and politics. We have worked with journalists, experts, private investigators and people who work within what is known as the 'press reform' movement, which is a subject close to Hugh's heart, as he explains in more detail halfway through the interview. Check out our books here: www.yellowpress.co Thanks for tuning in!

I love Hugh's humor, humility, his slightly grumpy side and his great common sense. I love his hatred of political correctness. But it's clear to see that he doesn't necessarily like interviews and that he finds all this attention exaggerated and uncomfortable. If the interviewers know this and are able to play along, it will be interesting. But if the interviewers are taken by surprise and unable to deal with it, it can become awkward. Here, it was somewhere between the two, I found. It is better to know the man well before interviewing him. And know what to expect. And play along.

I've been an unconditional fan of Hugh Grant for decades now, still am. Last week he appeared on a programme on Spanish tv as, I assume, part of film promotion. That programme is well known for spreading fake news for the far right, as well as its host having a clearly sexist behaviour on the show. I wish Mr. Grant had been advised against going. It is contradictory (I imagine through ignorance). But his agency should have done some previous research.
