Langston Hughes - My favorite poet! I have a collection of his poetry that I've shared with students in my class for years.

I hurts my soul that this video has only 19k views but a Cardi B video gets 1 million in an hour. How far we have gone from what our ancestors fought for

Sexy sells and the confused ideologies which are broadly supported promote such dull hedonism, and a shallow popularity in all arenas.. But Langston is timeless. He never needed a sales pitch, just an open mind and open ears...and ready fingers to type his vision.

I attended an all-Black elementary school in North Carolina in the 1960s, and the first poet I ever learned about was Langston. He remains my favorite writer of all time. The first poem I learned of his in second grade was "Your head is like a featherbed." I'm telling everyone I know about this documentary.

Thanks so rich. What we need is a monument with his poetry - maybe the 125th st stop. Nice mosaics but the subway entrance would be awesome

I would love to know how Langston would feel about his former home now being owned by a white man who went through all of his personal artifacts. Considering the racial tension that existed back then I wonder how he would feel. I would love to visit his home when I go to New York next month.

I thought the same thing. I hope the new building owner is putting money back into the neighborhood and black folk's pockets at the bare minimum.
