He hears things differently to rest of us, somehow ;) There's also a cool vide he did with Phil McKnight from SpiritCon where he dials in tones on the TriAmp and Black Spirit 200, where you learn a bit more about his thought process and how he builds tones. Definitely recommended viewing :) linkie to that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6HCd3SvrNaEptU

Kfir is such a great player and knows tone and as a guitar geek, myself, I can respect his detail to tone while playing each different cover song etc. I like his videos and he tries to capture the vintage tone as well as phrasing and playing of what you would expect to hear from the actual artist
@HughesandKettneramps5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we can echo that 100%. He does all of that, and he has a special talent at hearing specific details about tones many guitar players might not! Sitting in the room as he dialed these tones in was a great experience, for sure :)

I know may be this isn't the way guitar players talk, but resonance, I suppose, increases the signal level around the cutoff point of a highpass or lowshelf filter (or any filter) and that's way it doesn't got muddy. I comment about this 'cos it's really useful at any given time, from tracking to mixing, to live. Yep this amps sound amazing, I heard them time ago.

I can totally see how the Ultra channel works for the song because the original came out in 1990, which is feasible to say Gary was using the SLO at the time. The Ultra channel is a Dual Rec style sound, and we know where it’s sound came from…Soldano

@@HughesandKettneramps a quality reply 👍 I've been a duel rectier or peavey triple xxx user for a long time but I am now looking for a little more tone and a little less aggression, could you recommend which of your amps would be worth checking out before the guy in the shop recommends I just buy the most expensive amp they have lol I know the guitar is important to I'm using a les Paul custom if that helps, I'll be checking out the amp in this video too. Thank you.
@HughesandKettneramps4 жыл бұрын
Ha ha, we know how it is with guitar store salespeople ;) The best thing you can do is take your guitar with you when you go test amps. You want to be able to replicate your own rig and playing experience as best you can. From us, in terms of amps that can do everything from super clean to full-on high gain, the GrandMeister in this video and the Black Spirit 200 amps fit the bill. GrandMeister is tube, Black Spirit isn't, if that bothers you. (Try it even if you're skeptical though!) Those amps also have built-in FX (reverb, delay, modulation, boost), you can save up to 128 sounds, MIDI, a great DI in the Red Box, etc. So they're basically an all in one solution. If you're after something a little more simple, we have TubeMeister Deluxe (in 40 and 20 watt versions) and you can also find the older TubeMeister 36 and 18 editions. These are as simple as it gets - two or three kickass tube channels, from clean to pretty crunchy, and a top notch Red Box Di too. But that's about it. They won't get quite as dirty as the GrandMeister and Black Spirits do on their own, but stick a TubeScreamer or Klon in front and they can scream! We usually say these are the amps for the people who want something simple, or have a great pedal board and just want awesome base tones. Hope that helps a bit! Have a play around and see what works for you :) At the end of the day we could write 10,000 words about all this stuff, but you'll know in 30 seconds when you plug in if an amp is right for you. That's part of the beauty of it!

I disagree. Sounds to me like metaphyhsical. I prefer Vai's quote "tone is in your head". He meant, you know where to go, your north, and you get there despite how many ways exists or don't.

@HughesandKettneramps4 жыл бұрын
You could get close Franquito, but there would be things missing, and you'd have to approach it a different way! The TubeMeister Deluxe 20 doesn't have the Ultra channel like the GrandMeister does, and it doesn't have the FX like delay and reverb either! So you would need to add these with different FX units. To achieve this sound with just the amp and nothing else, you would need a GrandMeister. Hope that helps, Team H&K

I'd really like to know the Pickup Specs of GM's 'Stripe' guitar used in SGTB.. That will take your tone to the next level.You just can't use 'Any ol PAF set' ...I have found out how critical this is after emulating Jimmy Pages Post 1972 tone which is achieved by an UNBALANCED pickup set and Impossible to achieve with conventional pickup arrangements (ie hotter bridge weaker neck will not work)
