As a baby boomer growing up in the 60's and 70's, I danced the hula along with my sisters. It was such a magical time - and watching this reminds me of how beautiful the dance is. Maybe I should start dancing again...

I lived in Hawaii long ago and really miss it. I’m so glad I found your channel. I love watching the Hula. I try a few dance steps here and there, but no where near your expertise. Very inspiring and very beautiful dance. Thanks for sharing. I will continue to watch.

Mahalo for your comment. I love that you feel connected to Hawaii through my channel. Learning the hula doesn't have to be done in "expert" form - we all start somewhere so keep dancing!

Aloha Lynn, That is a pretty little lullaby. Speaking of lullabies, I have one I would like to suggest. I would love to learn kahuli aku. I really like that song. I’ve heard it said that it used to be a traditional Chant but it was turned into a song just recently. I am pretty sure it is still a traditional Chant. I do have another song that I would like to suggest also. I would like to learn a hula to ulili e. Mahalo nui loa for teaching us the Hula of Hawaii. I look forward to every Friday because that means its new Hula day. Lol. Well, Aloha for now.

Aloha e Cassie - yes, "Kahuli Aku" is a mele. In fact, Na Leo Pilimehana does a beautiful medley of this mixed with "Pupu Hinuhinu." Their version is entitled "Pupu Hinuhinu/Ka Huli Aku." Check it out - I think you'll like it. I'm happy to hear that you look forward to Hula Fridays! Mahalo!
