Hulka was a great character . He was a ball buster but he could walk the walk and was good at what he did. he was written to be an obstacle for Winger but not a villain. Larroquettes character was the real evil- stupidity in leadership

Warren Oates was perfect as Sergeant First Class Hulka. That was Timothy Busfield (THIRTY SOMETHING) as a private firing off a mortar in Sergeant Hulka’s direction, blowing him off that tower. And that was John Larroquette as Captain Stillman who ordered the private to fire off the mortar. Stillman was the kind of officer who gets troops killed in battle. During the Vietnam conflict, he would have been the victim of friendly fire.

jjohnston94, 'Hulka' calling his men "suckholes" just before saying, "Oh Sh**, INCOMING!"....always made me laugh. I saw this movie in the theater too. Still a funny movie on TV, but some of the charm was lost on cable 😂!
@jjohnston94 Жыл бұрын
@@jasona9 Take a close look at Hulka when he calls them ladies. There are several scenes where profanity was censored, and they're all perfect (for example, when Hulka announces a punishment and says, "What do you think of that, Winger?" and Winger says either, "I think it sucks", or "I think it stinks") - I'm convinced they shot these scenes both ways originally, so the edits would look good, probably because they knew they had something good.
