You forgot to add that after the first half mile, you had to carry your 2nd Lieutenant and all their gear, while they whined that they are an officer and shouldn't have to do all this. As for the Marines, it was we Army soldiers who caused their hard feelings, after throwing sand against a wall and yelling "HIT THE BEACH!"

heh, yeah, if the children are given extra fitness twice the experience and extremely chaotic creative streak with a dark humor and access to military hardware backing the "fun". our regiment comander did a mistake in an exercise breifing, he finished the long tedious and needlessly drawn out thing with something like "you have training, in this exercise objective is to slow a extremely overwhelming enemy force enough to allow our allies to regroup, use anything you got to stop them just avoid hurting anyone" oooh boy, any semblance of rules was quickly dropped and things got VERY creative. and amount of S### heading our way after was epic.

Just for future reference, the military will often pronounce an acronym as a word. DFAC is pronounced dē-fac. I've noticed most narrators will say each letter. This breaks immersion.

I think Tolkien spells it Mythril, if memory serves. I don't remember ever seeing it spelt Mythrel, all fantasy universes that use the term either employ an "i" or an "a" for the second vowel, at least to my knowledge.

Yeah, that's a rather obvious problem... It's even downright odd that it worked on *any* of them, even if mammals were to evolve somewhere else, it's next to impossible that they would react the same way to the same drugs. I can explain why if you'd like, but it's complicated and would be long-winded, so I'll stop here for now.

There are plenty of medications that vary in effectiveness among individuals of a species, and given limits of weight medics can carry, first one receive might be what is most likely to work for most number of allied aliens than that individual species. Plus they are intentionally shooting every new recruit at least once in the leg, so health/safety/ethics standards seem to have gone much lower.

the armor should have a passive mechanical inner exoskeleton, as to protect the joints and aleviate weight. elastic assists ( kangaroo leg mechanism, etc.) should be present too.

I really am enjoying these stories with Frairen and Co. Especially since its taking place in Ft Lenardwood, Missouri (near me) which is not the place I figured would ever be a top choice for a writer to use, much less a futuristic HFY SI-FI story. Good to see some Missouri rep - definitely the place to put some aliens through the wringer. Would love to have a long form video of all the Frairen and Co stories put together in chronological order or just more of them.

One thing to note: because of how plasma works, you probably actually WOULD need some manner of energy shielding to stop it. At the very least the armour would probably have to be polarized, at the very least, otherwise the concentrated plasma would just burn through the armour. Polarizing it would help to disperse it. Also, it seems likely that we WOULD embrace personal energy shielding in our armour if it were effective to do so, which it seems like it would be. Also, and I could be wrong here, but I strongly suspect it’s illegal to shoot your trainees for any reason, body armour or no, and that’s not likely to change in the future, because we humans aren’t that stupid or insane. Even a thigh shot could kill, which is actually why live-fire training is conducted so that the rounds pass WAY overhead. Nobody ever actually gets shot. Aside from all that, another good story.

Please keep reading the stories yourself, your reading is so much better than the robo-voices so many people now use instead of actually doing the reading themselves. I really dislike the robo-readers reading stories that have obviously not even been proof-read, leading to repetition, errors, and mis-pronunciations. For that reason, yours is the only story channel I've subscribed to. Thank you!

Unlike most HFY stories I've read or listened to the author of this series is fairly familiar with military culture and training realities. The punching the pin into Frairen's shoulder in the last session being a perfect example. Odd that the tradition came back given that it is currently banned but to be fair it happens all the time still so i could see it persisting.

My sister in English, if there’s an E and the end of suit it’s sweet. Not suit. They are 1000% different words. You may want to get the AI o to that little hiccup on its script reading. Yeah yeah I know you have videos of you guys talking at the start before the AI Gen images, but there are programs outside of elevenlabs that let people use AI using their own voice to read scripts in video.
