Although I'm not a fan of coarse language, as a veteran, it's refreshing to hear a story spoken with authenticity. Soldiers do speak this way, especially when the bullets start flying.

An interesting story could have aliens smelling, and even being affected by human pheromones, particularly an insectoid type race.

Thank you for pronouncing "chitin" correctly. Also for not having too many clicking mandibles in the narration. I mean, there were one or two, unfortunately, but the old clicking mandibles seem to infest every HFY production these days.

Funny thing is, I hear it pronounced "properly" in English and cringe every time. I have some weird issues, and knowing that it's several mispronunciations of one language to another from the original Greek χιτών... it's a big difference.
@SIB19632 ай бұрын
@@charlesrockafellor4200 Very interesting! /ˈkaɪ.tən/ in American English comes from the Greek /kʰi.tɔ̌ːn/. In general, I agree with you about "mispronunciations", especially when you've got a situation like this with a foreign word in an essentially dead language (not many classical Greek speakers running around these days). In this specific case, the "correct" pronunciation is well-established, and the hard k- sound seems a better representation than the English ch-. Plus I did a lot of undergrad studies in microbiology, and "chi-tin" just sounds grating to my ear.

@@SIB1963 Strangely, I replied 3 minutes after your previous reply, but it got deleted, and I'm certain that nothing that I said was verboten on the magical KZbin list of no-nos... Right, well, since I kept that tab open (a habit against just such events), here's that reply again, verbatim: Though I certainly prefer /kʰi.tɔ̌ːn/ over /ˈkaɪ.tən/, I'm at least glad that they said neither /t͡ʃɪ.tɪn/ nor /t͡ʃai.ʔɪn/. Maybe I should start a movement to bring Attic back into use? 😉 😆

Making a last stand like this on a small outpost is strange. Unless totally cornered, most Earth militaries would rather seek to evacuate to save manpower (given the possibility of available transports), regroup in a bigger base, and return with a stronger force to retaliate.

The enemy would have been more threatening had the humans lost. The humans with apparently only small arms fire were on a small isolated outpost with limited resources yet the enemy lost despite their overwhelming numbers. What do they think will happen when they face the actual human military that has far greater personnel, weapons and resources? The narrator was excellent though. She should do voice work for major movies.
@RADIOHFY3 ай бұрын
Xor’vul miscalculated the human strength and only sent one ship with a few waves of drones. An infinitesimally small portion of his forces.
