Nice overview! Learning about the deep history of our species is so eye-opening. Literally widens your horizons and affects how you look at things. For example talking about 2000 years as "fast migration" makes sense on the scale of 200 thousand years.. while in the context of the recent history so many individual events happened within such time frame, like whole empires and civilisations come and go. Maybe physical map would be better for this illustration to avoid using modern political borders which didn't exist back then..

Hey Quick question what is the pocket in morroco that shows 300,000 years ago, just wondering why there'd be a pocket there? 0:30

Nice catch...that is an artifact I should have taken off the map....however I will reveal to you why I originally put it there. Recently in 2017, a dig has found 315,000 year old fossils from Morocco could be earliest record of Homo Sapiens. In a cave at what is known as the Jebel Irhoud site, 5 ancient individuals were discovered. The researchers claim that this is a Homo Sapiens is still controversial, however because anthropologist are still debating exactly what physical features distinguish homo sapiens from our more primitive ancestors. I included on the map originally however didn't call it out verbally because it is still being discussed and scientist don't have a consensus on this site as Homo Sapiens. Thanks for watching :)

Love these videos. It would be great if you gave a downloadable map of hthe times of all the migrations, as occurs in this video.

Home sapiens would have had to compete with Denisovans on the way to India.

Love the video but the ai image of the midochondria eve should be a African woman not whatever the thumbnail suggests. That image is very disingenuous and deceiving

no. subsaharan africans' genetic difference is from "ghost dna" (likely homo erectus or something similar). if original homo sapien had this, all people would have the same ghost dna
@AfricanSurf Жыл бұрын
Idk what a "sub Saharan" African is that pathetic derogatory term means nothing if you specifically mean Darker skin toned African then that doesn't narrow anything down Our people come in many shades light to dark there is not one color that represents us especially when discussing this specific time period where we were the majority on this planet so wtf exactly are you trying to say?
@melchiorvonsternberg844 Жыл бұрын
@@AfricanSurf I think you're suffering from a bit of perceptual bias... When Homo sapiens set out to leave Africa, there were 3 other members of the Homo genus living on this planet. There is no scientific data at all about how many of each species lived on Earth. You can say that, but that has just as much relevance as saying that a pink unicorn brings you chocolate cake on even days of the week. Sure so far? The fact is that when Homo sapiens appeared, everyone else disappeared. That smells a bit fishy... And one more thing... There were significant differences in terms of physical characteristics. The brain of a Neanderthal was 10% larger than that of an African. If I were you, I wouldn't take on so much...
