Humble Choice September 2023 Review

Lots of good stuff for me in this month. Who pressed mute on Uncle Marcus is the kind of game that is fun to play with friends or loved one imo, most of those games always are a bit goofy and it can be entertaining. Foretales looks quite interesting but I guess I'd have to play it to say if it's a good game once you're past a few hours in it, but I'm interested. Forgotten City, I wanted to try it, so I'm definitely happy with that one too. Deceive Inc remind me of a game called "Murderous Pursuit" but in a slightly different way, those games can be fun but often lack players unfortunately, WOLF is also quite good at those games for whatever reason lol, he often wipe me easily. And as for Tiny Tina, and those I didn't mention, I believe they can be interesting as well, overall a good month for me. (WOLF think the same from what he told me.) Thanks for the video, I comment a bit late cause I forgot to do it earlier but still have to try to help you with the KZbin algorythm god somehow :D

Haha, thanks for your support, Frog. I'm glad that you and Wolf found this month to be great! I definitely see the value this month but I know many of these games don't quite have their teeth sunk in me to want to keep playing any time soon. However, I did go and pick up the bundle for my wife and we've been having fun with Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

@@StealthyshiroeanHumbleReviews Yeh Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is definitely the best if you have someone to coop with there! There seems to be a lot of short and chill games too which is something I tend to like.

Having a lot of fun with Aces and Adventures... perfect game to play when you have something else in the background since the story isn't big and I really enjoy the interesting twist in the mechanic where your poker cards serve a dual purpose, the 2nd being mana for your ability cards.

Yeah, you're right! This would be the perfect game to play in the background. Nothing too demanding and fairly easy to pick up and play a run or two if you don't have much time.

Best bundle in awhile for me, both the card games were on my list, and I've been waiting for Piratebots lol. I know that may be a bummer for others but I'm feasting this month!

Patch quest is really amazing. I highly highly recommend it it's one of my game of the years. Don't go in expecting a rougelike go in expecting a Metroidvania played through rougelite runs

I kinda wondered about that actually. After publishing the review, I was sorta wondering if calling it a rogue-lite had been incorrect. Good to know though! I remember watching this indie dev talk about creating Patch Quest and it seemed to be something long in the making. So I'm glad that he's found success.

I’ve been ill so this snuck up on me but I cant say I’m bothered this month looks like an easy pass for me, I have everything on here or at least a version of it with the only exception been forgotten city as that’s on my wish list on steam but I don’t think it’s hooking me enough to grab this bundle. We will see what’s in next months.

Aww, man. I hope you feel better soon! And hey, that's not much of a loss then. More than likely The Forgotten City will be given away for free on Epic in the next couple weeks anyway so you're probably good haha

@@Ohkapi Thanks! I'm glad that my videos can be a help. And I completely get not having time haha. Hopefully, you'll find a little bit of time in the near future with some of these. I think that's one of the great things about roguelites and many of the card games featured in Humble Choice. Usually, you can play a run in about 15 minutes or so. Perfect for a bite-sized chunk of time when you don't have a lot.

15:40 so I’m sure I’ve seen this in a bundle before some point in 2022 maybe or it may have been in one of steams feats and I’m mixing the two up but when I saw it last it wasn’t doing great. I also seem to remember the same problem back them aka you can just brute force it, I think the best would to fix that would be each player has a 1 shot 1 kill weapon that has a recharge timer that would force you to use the hiding mechanics and actually work out who are the real players with bonus points for only taking out your target, maybe if you kill an NPC by mistake you get a blood stain on you stopping you from hiding as well.

Probably mixing it up. Deceive Inc, believe it or not, was actually released March of this year. It's a real sad state of affairs for this game, unfortunately. And I think you're idea would be a perfect step in the right direction! There definitely needs to be some changes to encourage players not just to fire away. I did wonder how much of that was people who had just started since it was in the bundle though. To be fair, my first reaction was to shoot the first spy I saw because I knew they were one...but then realized it was way better to work with the mechanics lol

To me this month is pretty solid, only skipped Deceive Inc. for obvious reasons, and Forgotten City was on the wishlist, most of the rest looks fun enough to play, and even the very meh ones (BL hi) seem at least playable. So yeah, 7/8 with some appealing games is a win for me!

Nice! That's great to hear. Glad you're enjoying the month. It is a pity with Deceive Inc. I wish if Humble were to give us multiplayer games....it would be ones that had a healthy playerbase. Unfortunately, that's usually never the case so we're just stuck with a game that will sit there and accumulate virtual dust.

You really need a better mike. There's nothing wrong with the video but that mike is harsh. A lot of subscribers will listen to videos while doing other things so a good mike is essential. A lot of people will forgive poor video quality for instance if the topic is interesting. You can even leave a static image as reference or screen shots (sometimes necessary because of copyright) but will instantly click away if the sound is poor. Just a heads up because I hate to see good videos not get the recognition deserved.

Thanks, man. I do recognize this is an issue. I try my best to clean it up in Audacity, but...yeah, can only do so much with limited skills and a headset mic. Hopefully in the near future I can buy a better mic but for now just working with what I got. Thanks again for the support!
