Steve Marriott - great rock voice, sadly died in house fire in '91. Fun Fact : British band Humble Pie used American backing trio The Blackberries in some of their songs, one of whom was one Vanetta Fields, who later ended up a mainstay backing vocalist for YEARS for John Farnham .

Sad that Farnham became a sell out government mouthpiece in his later years.....

Yes you have listened to Humble Pie before. 8 months ago you reviewed "Black Coffee" and went absolutes NUTS over Steve Marriott's singing. I always wondered why you never went back to them again. Steve (RIP) was considered by his peers to be one of the greatest white soul/rock singers to come out of England. Please play more, I guarantee you will love it Steve was such a great talent: "Tin Soldier" Small Faces 1968 (Steve's first band) "I Wonder" Humble Pie 1973 Steve's soulful singing & Harmonica plus a weepingnguitar solo "Help Me Through the Day" Steve Marriott (solo) great blues guitar and blues singing "Five Long Years" 1985 Steve w/Packet of Three Great live blues performance

Such a great band. Steve Marriott was Robert Plant's inspiration as a singer - that's how good he was.

Its a compilation of video over the studio version, not actually live. Love me some Humble pie.. Try "Black Coffee next.

One of the great bands from the 70’s featuring Steve Marriott….( Small Faces)one of the great Blues singers…. Part of the Small Faces, Faces… Humble Pie Family…. Three great bands ….enjoy.

I love Humble Pie and Faces, but my favorite will always be the "mother band" - SMALL FACES ! Only together for a little over 3 years, but they made such beautiful, creative and butt kicking fun music. I wish more people would look beyond "itchicoo Park" and "Tin Soldier" . Although these are great songs, all of their album cuts are just brilliant and timeless.

Peter Frampton was in Humble Pie before he became famous with his solo career. Steve’s voice is just killer. Great band for sure!

Nick, this is Boyd. Thank you for doing another one of my request. You did black coffee from Humble Pie earlier and stated "this is piss8ng me off" which is like the greatest honor you ever bestowed upon a vocalist. Love you man.

Who is Humble Pie?..,..Who is Humble Pie you say? They are in your face, make no apologies top notch live rock and roll. Yes Steve Marriott was approached by Led Zeppelin but Sharon Osborne’s dad put the stop to that with the promise of broken legs. True story
@cindyfalstrom723111 ай бұрын
That's what urban legend says. However, if you will excuse a slight correction, I believe it is said that Don Arden threatened jimmy with "how would like to play with 10 broken fingers!!" - LOL! at least that is what I have always heard. Who knows if this is true or not. Jimmy Page is the only one left alive that could verify it.

Cindy Cindy Cindy you are absolutely postively 100% correct it was Don Arden that threatened to break legs!........Oh ya he is also Sharon Osbornes dad 🙂@@cindyfalstrom7231

The best song on the "Smokin" album is a blues song called "I Wonder". I love all kinds of blues but that one song is my favorite blues song. I hope you will listen to it. I remember hearing it first when I was 17 years old. I lost 10 pounds listening to that song over and over again. Please listen to it. It's the best! I PROMISE!
@cindyfalstrom723111 ай бұрын
"I Wonder" is my favorite Pie song also. A close second would be "You're So Good For Me". Totally different, a duet between Steve and Greg Ridley (bass) and the lovely ladies singing back up. Almost gospel like - beautiful .
