16g | 0.55oz | 32% distilled water
10g | 0.35oz | 20% witch hazel
4g | 0.14oz | 8% Olivem 300
1g | 0.04oz | 2% sodium lactate
0.5g | 0.02oz | 1% vegetable glycerin
2g | 0.07oz | 4% niacinamide (Vitamin B3)
0.5g | 0.02oz | 1% hydrolyzed silk
0.25g | 0.01oz | 0.5% aloe vera 200x concentrate powder
15g | 0.53oz | 30% rose hydrosol
0.5g | 0.02oz | 1% panthenol (Vitamin B5)
0.25g | 0.01oz | 0.5% liquid germall plus
To adjust the pH: 33% citric acid solution as needed (I used 1g)

Maybe you could do a video on where you store the vast list of ingredients you use in your various recipes. If I bought them all I would have no room for my groceries! Not to mention no money for my groceries! Lol. I wish I could get them all. :-)

I feel like that video would be both terrifying and disappointing LOL. Knowing the state of my ingredient storage, you do not want to learn your storage tips from me haha! I am fortunate enough to live somewhere with a second kitchen, though, so that's where I store stuff :)

Another amazing and helpful video! :) Thank you Marie. I hope one day you'll create recipe for a korean type essence. I've seen others do it but they put to soooo much stuff into it that I wonder if it even does anything.

Thanks, Michelle! I'm currently studying up on the essences; so many of the more Korean-specific active ingredients aren't available here at all, though one of my readers who lives in China tells me she has found snail mucin for sale!

Hi I have a question that's driving me INSANE because I can't find it anywhere lol. Can I add powder (ex seaweed powders, spinach powder, kale powder, etc) to an oil? I want to make my own facial oil and extracts seem to be too expensive, a water base, or mixed with fillers

You can, and ask long as they are 100% dry it won't pose a preservation challenge, but they won't dissolve-they'll just settle out, like rocks in a jar of water. LisaLise does a lot of work with infusions-check her & her books out! www.lisaliseblog.com/

Hi Marie, I'm Devy from Indonesia. I'm running out of my face tonner and come across your tutorial so I made it. Unfortunately, I am stubborn enough to insists using Olivem 1000 instead on 300. So the result of course it has flaky floating Olivem on it. LOL. So I filtered with the clean fabrics and I'm happy I don't have to throw my DIY toner gone-wrong. Thanks for the video, Marie.

i really love this recipe, but it really hard to find olivem 300 and shea butter ester and cromollient sce (i read in this comment section) in my country. and i cant afford it from amazon or any country outside my country. do you have other recommendation? i really want to make this recipe and really want to add solubilizer, so i hope i dont have to drop the olivem 300..or can i use PEG 7 glyceryl cocoate? for the hydrolyze silk, can i use the liquid one? dand also can i add hyaluronic acid to this? i hope you'll answer this marie. Where can buy rose hydrosol is it the same as Rose Floral Water from Voyageur Soap and Candles.

I have some from Plant's Power and Essential Wholesale that I really like. I'm no longer confident that what Voyageur sells is a true hydrosol as it foams/lathers when shaken, but it will work as well :) I believe theirs is what I used in this project. Happy making!

Very cool! I've been stuck on what preservative I wanted to use.. Now can you add pedals in your toner for decorative value for example like the neogen rosewater? I'm looking for an anti-bacterial component and a preservative to keep the rosewater longer. Any thoughts?

I use liquid germall plus for pretty much everything-it's pretty much foolproof. You definitely cannot add rose petals as they will mould and go all gross sitting in water-think about pond slime... sort of like that. Full on botanicals soaked in water is typically far too much bacterial temptation for home crafters to adequately preserve against, sadly.

You keep your hands from my hydrosols! Lmao. I am a lover of hydrosols, and witch hazel hydrosol is awesome. Let me recommend neroli hydrosol. It's awesome! I have to giggle at sodium lactate as I'm like...hardens soap too! 😂 Simplification is awesome. Though addition is great too!

I love it when ingredients have multiple uses! Booyah. Especially when they're as different as sodium lactate in soap vs lotions and mists! Should one enjoy the smell of neroli for neroli hydrosol? I feel like yes lol...

This is a great recipe. I've recently started looking for toners again and have found that a) they appear to have gone out of fashion and b) are really difficult to find without alcohol in them. When I have some money again, I'll get myself some Olivem 300 and the other stuff too.

You need cosmetic grade Niacinamide-all he "non flush" I found was for oral niacin supplements. Check the blog post for links :)

You'll need to refer to the solubility (must be fully water soluble) and concentration (adjust so you still get the correct strength), but you should be able to :)

I would've used one of the ones recommended by NDA; when you add one of these bottles to cart a pop-up window appears with a selection of compatible lids for you to add to cart.

Think about what leaves look like after they've sat in water for a while... that's probably more or less what you'd get :/

I haven't found it necessary with Liquid Germall Plus (INCI: Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate) as the preservative.

@@HumblebeeAndMe thank you so much for responding. I'm about to start using hydrosols for the first time. LGP is my preservative. So would you say Disodium EDTA is not necessary when preserving with LGP? Regardless of how much hydrosol or aloe you are using?

@@e.a.4926 I haven't found it to be required, but the precise formulation you're using is always going to be a factor. You will have to do your own experiments and tests to confirm :)

What a beautiful recipe Marie! Definitely what I'm going to try! I would like to add that liquid panthenol is not heat stable but powder is! I definitely want to pick up a pH meter as well… PH strips can get expensive overtime especially if you're using them a lot in recipes, depending on how much water based DIY we are doing.
