i live in georgia (southeastern united states) and i chose not to reformulate my body butter. this video validates my reason for doing so. i use a combination of shea butter and kokum butter (total of 60%) for my butter and it turns out perfect in my environment.

Good Morning Marie, I cannot believe that you just posted this very much needed video. I live in Las Vegas Nevada and it has been an extremely hot summer. I went to my workshop only to find that the power had shut off. it was a whopping 110 degrees inside. all of my foot butters and body butters just to name a few have all turned to liquid. Although very disappointed I was able to turn power back on with a switch at the fuse box. Again I just wanted to say thank you because this information was just what I needed to push on. its almost like you know exactly what to say at the right time. thanks again Anne

I could not agree more about not shipping body butters in the warmer months. I once received a completely liquified "body butter" from a seller on Etsy. It was incredibly disappointing. I don't understand the rationale behind even attempting to ship body butters in warm weather now that I am a formulator myself. In my humble opinion, emulsified butters are way better in almost every way, anyway.

Yes, emulsified body butters are far more thermally stable than anhydrous ones :)

Because I make most of my butter in the winter for dry skin (which I use with other lotions and drinking water to keep the moisture through the day) I don't deal with this issue often, but in my early butter making days I did experience it in warmer months and I just warmed it again and separated the frothy parts and remade the batch. Now I use more aloe for moisture and I haven't had that problem since in the summer months

Hi Marie, Thanks for the video. Its so hot were I leave that I have to exclude oils from my body butters. I just simply make body oils separately and body butters separately. E.g Shea mango body butter or Shea cocoa Body butter

My body butter is soupy at room temp. The recipe I followed was 12oz tallow to 4 oz olive oil. I also added 8 tsp arrowroot powder & 120 drops ess oils. It was gorgeous when whipped out of the fridge but at room temp it's too soft. I want to add coconut oil or mango butter with 1tbs beeswax to try to firm it up....but what's the best way to do that? Surely I don't want to reheat what I've already made, right? So do I do it at room temp? Chilled? I'd think the add in has to be same temp as the already mixed butter (?) HELP

Hi Marie, I make a hair butter that include 16 organic oils and butters by combining all ingredients in a double boiler method and it comes out beautifully. The problem is mailing it to my customers in the hot temperatures in the US. How do I fix this. I've even mailed them in mailing kits with dry ice and styrofoam coolers. Help

It needs to go in the freezer for about 30 minutes or so. Once more on the solid side you can then reblend it again or let it sit out for a little till it reaches room temperature. Hopefully by this time you have a thicker body butter 🙂.
