I once read about a British and an American General having an argument about past wars. Every time the American General mentioned a Country they had fought against, the British General said, "Yes, but we had beaten them before you had". Exasperated, the American General asked, "What about the War of Independence, we beat you then, didn't we"? After a short pause, The British General said, "Yes, but you were British then"!

No offence bro, but what do you teach these kids? And how do you test whether they understood any of it? And what do you do if they clearly don't? Do you know what I get when I try to explain why BRICS, the necessity for demand for fiat dollars and the existence of the European primary energy market leads to a proxy war in Ukraine, apart from a 5h4d0w b4n, that is? Crickets! Now I know why. They only care about lowbrow garbage and the worst part is; they can vote! You need to do better, mate.

Some of his questions are sort of trick questions because of the wording. "What (btw., shouldn't that be "which" and not "what") 2 countries border the USA?" There are more than 2 countries that border the USA. He probably meant which 2 countries have landlocked borders. "Which continent are we standing on?" That depends. If you say there are 7 continents, they would be standing on the North American continent. As this is supposed to be basic knowledge questions, this would probably be the most common answer, but there are other ways of dividing the world into continents. For instance one of those ways only divides the world in 5 continents and that would make them be standing on the continent named the Americas. He didn't specify which model he was using. There are other ways of dividing than these 2 but I forgot them. While not a trick question per se, it, like a few other of his questions, could use some clarification. My favorite questions of his are: "What is the capital of Chicago." My immediate answer: US dollars and cents. "What state is Utah in?" My answer: A mormon state (of mind). Which question is your favorite?

Why would they ask that? Here in Romania, when the police comes out of his patrol car,he already saw on the screen, the license plate being read by a smart camera,so it displays if the car have insurance, passed the technical inspection, owner's name and your mug with all the historial of your driving licence. So they would stop you only for a commited infraction, not just to chat with you about the registration number. That's not efficient for a cop, instead of dealing with the criminality,to waist his time interrogating random drivers.

Hi guys, I need to tell you that Dr Phil covered US Education on an entire show, and discovered that Elementary school students are being promoted to the next grade whether they pass or not, because they don’t have room to teach both the outgoing and the incoming classes, so they get pushed upwards to make room. Consequently 6th grade students have been tested for high school preparedness and found to be at third grade level of education! With nowhere else to put them, they advance into Junior High with third grade standards. Needless to say, from there on, they learn nothing because it’s all way over their heads. That’s why these teens can’t answer basic questions!

In Australia, when I was studying to be a Primary School teacher. They taught us ALL aspects of teaching, including Behavioural Psychology and Child Development both physically and mentally. We were taught how to apply behavioural psychology when engaging students to encourage good behaviours and boost their self-esteem, without creating conflicts. We also learned the basics all over again - arithmetic, English grammar and spelling, art, history, etc, so that we would refresh our minds about the level that these students would require. We also learned how to do student assessments and be able to teach them at their current level then step forward together as teacher and student. We learned how to test the children at various stages throughout the year, as well as writing reports. This on top of tall the documents the school required to maintain student records.

Most of the british doesn't know where Ireland is....or Gibraltar, Falkland ...is a mistery even for the parliament members.Remember the Brexit campaign with the red bus? Remember Farage and BJ screaming around all kind of fake promisses most of you believed true? Europe was laughing during an entire year about that.

I was at school in the 70s when teachers had control. Only one teacher didn't as he was too soft. We messed around and paid no attention to him resulting in us learning nothing in his classes. Even those who wanted to learn from him couldn't because of the disruption. Generally we were well educated in every other class because we didn't dare to mess around.

If I was in the US and someone asked me "Who fought in the Civil War?", my first answer would be "Which Civil War?" - because in the UK, the answer would be the Roundheads vs the Cavaliers...

Hi Mike & Jess, I live in the U.K., we did not do History classes until 1st yr of high school. However, I already knew something about the Romans, Medieval times, The English Civil War, The U.S. Civil War, The Napoleonic Wars, WW 1 & WW 2. All thanks to watching Tv programs/films throughout the `60`s, including Dr. Who.

On another video well before this - and doing the same things as this, the question asker asked the same question about "if you were being born 10 years ago" to another young woman . . . he tried again and again to explain as to why the answer was only 10, but she would have none of it . . . her answer was stuck on how old she would be with 10 years taken off it - or the same with her sisters age . . . in the end he just gave up and said Yes! which has since become his standard answer right or wrong . . . in other words - you just cannot make someone believe you if they think that they're always right no matter what . . . The channel runner, who was questioned about only picking such people to show on video - answered this in his comments once - he said, 2 out of 3 people are like this when asked - they just can't retain much of the older information over what is newer . . . Don't worry, there are similar people from every country in the world - just not as many of them I fear . . . (1 person even came out with Captain America Vs Red Skull to the Civil War question!) . . . Here in the UK history questions asked similar to this can be even harder to answer - mainly due to its much longer history - same in Europe, too . . .

The problem isn’t just the schools, it’s the fact that so many American people just seem to have absolutely no curiosity about the rest of the world at all. There seems to be absolutely no knowledge of the world outside of Americas borders, and that’s just so sad. It’s one of the things that keeps Americans trapped with poor healthcare etc, there’s just no knowledge that things could be done differently. Anyway, you 2 are great! Good channel:)

I have no words, ok I'm British and didn't know the year America was founded but I knew it was celebrated on the 4th July and now know it's 1776, I also knew you have 50 stars on your flag as I've seen that question before. But to not be able to name 3 other countries in the entire world, to not know how many seasons there are, to not know that you travel 60 miles when you've driven at 60mph for an hour and to think that anywhere in the USA speaks Japanese I'm sure she'd have said the same if he asked what they speak in Ohio or Nebraska. AND BRITAIN AND FRANCE ARE THE SAME!!!! OMFG.

My answer to "Who fought in the Civil War?": WHICH Civil War? Here in the UK we have had at least three in the last 1,000 years: The Anarchy (C12th). The Wars of The Roses (C15th). The English Civil Wars, aka The British Wars and The Wars of The Countries (C17th). Also there are Civil Wars currently in Syria, Myanmar and Sudan. I SOOOO wish that he could ask me that question. 🤣🤣🤣

Of all things I was in a McDonalds in London today talking to the security guy and it got to where I'm from. Cork, Ireland. (he wants to be a musician, did he play anything, I played piano accordion in school but cannot play a note since). He says Roy Keane, a Man Utd footballer from the 90's turned commentator/ pundit is from there. I said I drove two of his Man Utd teammates home to Manchester from a London Airport in 96 and I only learned that from them then. So he asked that was before the internet so how would I have gotten home from there without navigation?

To your parent/teacher relationship point - the number of teachers that are genuinely dumbfounded that my wife and I back them and are there to support them is scary, Their defenses are usually up at first meeting and the first couple of times we need to speak to them about something (usually because of our child's learning difficulties not because of any problem with the teacher!). More importantly, we've learned by now that so much depends on the relationship between the teachers and the school administration. In the last school our daughter attended, the teachers were so demoralized by their administration that I saw teachers cry when we stood with them on an issue instead of fighting them or volunteereed some time. In our daughter's current school the teachers and administration are so good that many parents continue volunteering to help after their kids have graduated. They're an integral part of the community and the community wants to help, in a large part because the administration has built relationships and the teachers feel valued in their jobs. Her current school is considered a "poorer" school from its intake area (the school has a food pantry for the high number of kids who are food insecure), but the difference in the quality of education is night and day, and we see it in the behavior and respect given too.
