Hummer H2 2005 - Rear Diff Lubricant Change (Refill Alert - See Description! )

This video walks through changing the oil in the rear diff. This work is nice and easy and can be done in under an hour.
Apologies, further research has revealed the GM Owners Manuals (all years) is wrong !
The correct fill level is 0" - 0.375" (max) so fill until the oil pours out !

01:03 - Step 1 Make sure the truck is level and the differential is cold
01:30 - Step 2 Slacken the fill-plug
02:08 - Step 3 Remove the drain-plug and drain-out the old oil
03:16 - Step 4 Clean, inspect and re-fit the drain-plug
03:49 - Step 5 Add 1.9L (2Q) of new oil and check oil level.
04:44 - Step 6 Inspect, clean and re-fit the fill-plug

Not ONLY are ALL of your 📸 videos extremely informative and educational, they are also produced in very simple and clear detail(s)! I also like the fact that you take your time and you also take the added efforts to cover/show even the smallest details on whatever you are trying to repair! Your visuals and video angles are amazing and as a added bonus, you also provide documentation, OEM, repair service bulletins and factory information that is very difficult to come across even here in the U.S! I'm always impressed at your level 🎚️ of details that you cover whenever you are repairing your Hummer h2 and how simple you explain things as you speak (and show throughout your videos). You are VERY, VERY detail oriented Mr Colin and this is a HUUGGEE help to ANYONE that are doing your repairs for the very first time! Simply put, your videos are absolutely THE BEST videos that I have ever come across...... PERIOD!! By the way, I'm a Master Mechanic and I have been working on vehicle's for over 30+ years, I also have several vehicle including ( 3), three Hummer H-2's! Welcome and thank you for comenting and subscribing. That is a good question, what I do know is that the reccomended fluids are for use with limited diffs. I've hered no mention of using additives and I would say most of the purists will keep to the recomended oils but I will update you with any information that come to light. Thank again for asking.

Question, How much does a 20087 takes> 2 quarts as well? thanks in advance

Thank you for your comment and an iInteresting point. Short answer is yes, however according to the service manual, the capacity is 2.75 Quarts (2.6L) for all years. You will find values of 1.9g and 2q frequently mentioned online, so one might assume not all fluid can be drained. i.e. there is a residual of 0.75-0.85q. Hope this helps you👍
