Hummer H3 and 3.5l: Jerky idle: possibility

in this video, I talk about the PCV crankcase hose.
this is located on the airbox that is sitting over the ignition coils.

Does the Hummer have an EGR Valve? If so where is it located? Based on experience that can be the cause of a rough idle and/or stalling out

Depending on the year, 2007 has a VTT and the PCM takes care of the external EGR. Can you give me more details on how it idle rough and when it stall. Does it drive a bit or you just can't run with it?

Hi! So the engine is having a hard time to start in the morning. Is it hard to start when the engine is hot? Let say after you drive a few minutes, you stop the engine and when you try to start it again, it has a hard time? It is important for me to know if it has a hard time to start when hot or cold or in both case. The other important question is to know what it does when you try to start it? Is it cranking, is it just not doing anything, or is it a rough idle? Let me know!

The fuel pump it self sadly rust. The fact the tank is in plastic is a great design! But the top lock ring with the top of the fuel pump and the fuel lines rust.

Exacly! So a damaged/cracked hose will do the same symptoms as a not connected hose. If the H3 as a bad/jerky idle and that everything else seems in working order, that little hose could be the culprid!

I need more information to help you. After 3 to 4 hours the Hummer will have a hard time starting after you shut it down. but starts on the second turn of the key or do you need to wait a few minutes?

Hey, sorry for the delay. It can come from a few things. It can be the weather strip that are bad. Look at the plastic strip that goes around the door located on the body of the H3. If you get wind with rain the water will be worse. If you have a moonroof/sunroof, it could come from the water getting in the body because tge drain holes of the roof are clogged. The water will follow the body panels and build up on the floor (thats the worse possibility since the water can't cause electrical problem, so make to verify that the water isnt coming from there). The other possibility is the heater core or the hoses that connects to it are leaking. Check the floor around the front passenger side (near the cebter console) if its wet too it maybe coolling that escape in the H3. Check your level of coolant level under the hood to see if you are loosing any. Put the heater on in the H3 and blast the heat. If there is no heat coming out of the vent or you sponge out all the liquid and the vehicle isn't out side and it's not raining then the possibility to be the core is pretty high! Hope this will help you to locate the problem. If its just the weather strip, it's not bad. If its the sunroof, try to clean the drain holes as soon as possible to prevent any future problems. If it seem it's coolant coming from the dash, that mean its the heater core. It should be fix fast too, to prevent over heating, coolant stain on the carpet and other serious damage (usually the heater core is located behind the passenger side dashboard and can be remove from under it).
