UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Be sure to check out the Gn2 version of this video! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWO9cmZ3Z7mBsNk
@안희창-l5t Жыл бұрын
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzbin.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

No problem and I will surely take you up on the offer. I have an Onix 8 at the helm of my boat and a helix 7 on the bow connected to the trolling motor, so my boat is well equipped with humminbirds. The more I understand about how they work and the features they possess and the way they can help me find fish, the better I will be from an angling standpoint. Thanks again. I have liked your channel and will look for future videos.

The sharpness seems to pixelate it really does the opposite of what sharpness is should do I think. That's just my opinion. Contour range changes your map depth range. So say the lake you're on is down 10ft you can adjust the map to match. I can give you the science to I'm a Engineer (Not the train type even though I was one of those at one time also LOL) I just didn't want people falling to sleep and no one has done a video just talking about the settings. The “cone” on the di is more a thin straight line. Keeping the trolling motor pointed forward you can tell if the fish is moving front to back or back to front. Other than that if it is a continuous line it’s moving with the direction of the boat.

@BassGeek7 жыл бұрын
That's a tough question without visual aids. The first thing I'm gonna tell you Is if you are looking for cover\structure on side imaging use the highest frequency your unit has. So if it's a mega use the 1200, if it's not use the 800. You will have to play with the contrast and sensitivity. Now my next question is how deep and how flat are the area you're searching?

Just picked a Helix7 SI, your video helps with the initial setup and what your seeing on the screen. Just curious about side image, where is the shoreline in the view? And what are you seeing in the center of the view that always seems to be dark where the path of the boat is? Is there a way to differentiate between species of fish, bass vs pike vs blue gills vs catfish?
@BassGeek7 жыл бұрын
Thanks. First the shore line will appear much as the Center of the screen. It will be dark and you will see the rough edges. That is unless the shore is further away than you have the side scan set up for. So say you have your side scan set to 75ft out and the shore is 90ft away your not going to see it. Now as for the middle that is an area of the water where the sonar has not began to touch bottom. So its just water. Hope that helps.

@BassGeek7 жыл бұрын
Thank you sir and sort'a kinda. I'm gonna guess your like me and you're coming from Lowrance based on the term ping speed. With Humminbird it's a little different. You want to match the speed the boat is moving. So for example if you are at the bow unit I keep "chart speed at about 2. If I'm at my console I keep it around 5. You can play with the both units just to tweak it to your preference but like I said it is sort'a kinda the some but different. There is no "ping speed" on helix units.

Hey what does the ice fishing choice do? I'm looking to jig lake trout off the bottom in summer months. I localized the top and bottom for the chart so I can watch movement....just not sure what the jig and ice fishing modes do - thanks!
@BassGeek7 жыл бұрын
I'll be perfectly honest with you. I have never tried the "ice fishing mode" Humminbird makes an Ice fishing version of the helix units. If I'm guessing the Ice mode is just a flasher screen. No the jigging mode I can talk about. It basically intensifies the signal return. You'll see your line lure fish a dead fly 25ft suspended. I do some vertical fishing with spoons during the summer and we do a lot of dimiki rig fishing during the winter. I always have my bow unit on sonar and I love it. To be hones I only use sonar on the front. Sorry I couldn't help anymore than that.

Roger Scheuermann Is it a Gen1 or Gen 2
@rogerscheuermann44096 жыл бұрын
BassGeek - Thanks for responding. I believe it is a Gen 1. Helix 7 SI - GPS. Just not happy with images, cannot see brushpiles or fish. An suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Just got off the phone with HB and they say to buy a HD transducer for $269. Would be willing to purchase if this solved the problem, just not sure. Thanks again, love your channel.
@BassGeek6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I would look into the HD transducer. It will help a ton. I will say I’m not a fan of the helix units under 9’s. In one of the videos I add the name of the had transducer you would try.
@rogerscheuermann44096 жыл бұрын
BassGeek - I just purchased the HD transducer. $180 shipping and tax. Thanks for your recommendation. Will let you know how it works once I get back from trip, Jan 17 and then install. You have more info than HB people. They should tell people about the HD transducer at time of purchase. Read a lot of reviews, people seem to be high on this transducer. Appreciated...

First hit Menu x2 then go to the views tab and be sure that the view you want is not hidden. Then you can hold the view button go to sonar and select the view you would like to use

Where did you place your transducer? I bought a boat and they had it on the left side under the step.
@BassGeek6 жыл бұрын
I've moved mine around just a little. I had in the same place you're talking about originally but on the right side of the boat. I moved it to the center right in front of the motor to test. It didn't really help one way or the other so I just left it there.

how do u select tranduers on a network system, could u explain
@BassGeek7 жыл бұрын
bugaboo258 first be sure you name both units so to make it easier to locate the transducer you want to use. You will do that under the same place as sharing the transducers. Here’s how to get there: hit menu 2xs go all the way to the tab on the right called Network. Under that menu the first selection will be the NAME of the unit. I name mine Bow and Console just to make it simple. Then select the menu item labeled network Source Setup. You should then see STATUS, 2D, DI, SI and so on. Go to the type of sonar you want to use like SI for example, and simply place a check in the box of the transducer you want to use. Hope this helps.

FishingGalway You. An start with the ones in the video. Just remember it’s not a set and forget deal. You’ll have to tweak the setting depending on the lake, area, depth, even the water clarity.

If I'm in 20 foot of water and set the Side Scan distance to 100 feet..am I actually scanning 100 feet left/right; or am I scanning 20 feet down and 80 feet right/left ? Thanks.

You are scanning 100ft left or right.

first time viewer. most of the water I fish is 7ft or less. would you recommend the same settings to start?
@BassGeek7 жыл бұрын
I would use the 800Khz 90% of the time. Back off both sensitivity and contrast. Maybe as low as 8 on the sensitivity and then +\-2 on the contrast. Contrast can change a lot based of water but a plus or minus 2 vs your sensitivity is a good starting point. If it's still to "hot" or bright back off the sensitivity and keep working.
@wcarione7 жыл бұрын
Thanks BG. I never realized, but I have the kvd model and it doesn't have the 800Khz transducer. I have the 83/200, 455 only. Still very good information that I put to use this past weekend! Thanks.
@BassGeek7 жыл бұрын
William Carione It should still work for the 455 you may have to really crank the contrast up. In that shallow water. Crank that sensitivity down also. How did it work for ya
@wcarione7 жыл бұрын
It was a great starting place. Yeah, I had to drop the sensitivity more to get rid of the floaties. But like you stated, it's just a starting point. I was able to fine tune in on some grass beds that were holding fish.
@BassGeek7 жыл бұрын
William Carione that's the best thing I could hear.
@brandonsmith99286 жыл бұрын
When looking at the screen and you see fish, where are the fish in relation to the transducer? Directly beneath it when they are in the middle of the screen?? I'm looking at getting my first fish graph.
@BassGeek6 жыл бұрын
If you're talking on the Side Imaging most of the time no. That's why I use the lines. On the Down Imaging yes. Now as you get into deeper water the cone or visible area will be larger. There is a cone to depth example image in the humminbird user manual.

how did you change your map color
@BassGeek7 жыл бұрын
Hank Hayes Thanks for watching what you see is the Auto Chart Live map. There are some slight color adjustment you can make but it's not very versatile in that sense. I'm using Navionics as my base map and all you can do is shade depths. The Lake Master maps are apparently much more versatile but they just don't cover some of the lakes near me.

I fish a lake that is on average fishing depth of 40 to 700 feet in depth. Most fish I catch are around 120. What's the best setup for that situation on my helix 7. ?

I don’t know that that’s a simple answer that can be given in a comment.

@Bassgeek - why do you turn fish ID off
@BassGeek5 жыл бұрын
Fish ID is not totally accurate. It can sometime read submerged debris as fish or limbs of brush piles etc.
