Humvee Differential Overhaul and Output Flange Seal Installation- LSxHumvee

I needed to replace an output flange seal / axle seal on LSxHumvee so while I had the differentials out I went ahead and had ARB Air Lockers installed and just did a quick overhaul on everything. I ran into a few issues with the axles not seating correctly in the bearings but you'll see in the video that corrects itself when you install the output flange on the axle.

The PVC used was all 2" PVC from home depot, worked perfect and never broke.

What's the advantage of having an air Locker when the Humvee already come with a Torsen differential?

The Torsen is a good differential but not the same as a locker. It slips quite a bit even with brake modulation. Running the much larger 42" tire I didn't want to have to worry about spinning the tires up and working the brake to give me the kind of traction that would allow slow controlled crawling. The locker is just a more efficient option and selectable for street driving and off road use.

The Torsen / TT4 system is good but it doesn't engage until after you are already stuck or slipping. The ARB's can be engaged before that happens and you have full control over them instead of the computer deciding for you.

Great video. I have a question. I just bought brand new 2.73 axles for the front and rear. I took them out to Predator to have the ARB locker kits installed. I installed the rear first. Here's my video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJqVp5Khid6Keck. Once I got it installed and after my video, I noticed that my gear oil is being pumped out of the vent line and into the vent system. I was wondering if you had the same problem? I read a lot of blogs that said this was common with ARB's. And this is while they are NOT engaged. I also notice that the gear oil is making its way to my right rear gear hub. The level gets higher on the sight glass after driving. Most of the blogs said to increase the size of the vent system.
