Get rid of the drugs trade? Haha yeah cause banning alcohol in America worked so well... We will never prevent all people from taking drugs, it's an impossibility. What we can do, is legalise and regulate all drugs - bringing in huge taxation to help fund things like addiction therapies, and prevention programmes, amongst our NHS, public education and other areas of welfare. The countries that have already done this - Portugal - have shown a statistically significant reduction in both crime, and additions rates in their population. The 'war on drugs' does not, and never will work because it doesn't tackle the root cause of the problem. It's an international issue that countries are trying to manage on a national level, in terms of policy.
