A fun history video, making me look forward to my trip even more. So modern day Hungarians are descendants of lego people! How cool is that!

Ain't no way you can trace back family 1000 years. Especially given how Hungary's population was practically wiped out and replaced twice throughout the centuries.

Thank you for such a fun, & enlightening video. Budapest is such a beautiful city. I first fell in love with it while on a Danube cruise. I couldn't stay but 1 day because the cruise was on its way to Prague, but I vowed to return to your city for a longer stay. I enjoy your informative, & entertaining videos. Please keep them coming.

I really enjoyed the video and learned a lot from my History. I am fascinated by your perfect English and Hungarian accent. How long did you live in these countries? I am also bilingual, I left Budapest when I was 15, and finished my education in London. Your videos are great! My husband found it and is a prescriber.

We will be there next year for 2 months and we will be there on aug 20. Is there one website that will list all the "activities" with locations and times? Where can you taste the cake of the year is it at most cafes or just particular ones? Which is the most "local" market in pest to experiance St Steven's day "the local way"?
@StuffedCabbageAdventures2 ай бұрын
Hey there, usually the programs and information are available on this website: www.szentistvannap.hu/en The cakes should be available in almost all Budapest confectionaries and cafes, it's easy to find them luckily and are mostly available a day prior to august 20th. (this year we could get them from August 19th). In all honesty there is no "local market" for a "local way". Markets for the event are touristy, both foreign and domestic tourists, and there is no problem with that. You can try many things and check out handcraft goods. There is always a market in the Castle District and from the Chain Bridge towards the Várket Bazár buildings. The local way is to go into the city center, have some drinks and snacks and see the fireworks, but a lot of Hungarians stay home as it is a public holiday 😊
@markus384024 ай бұрын
Is it an option to go up to gellert hegy and watch the fireworks there? I mean you can see the whole city. But there is construction work so what do you think? Woul you recommend it or which place would you recommend? :)
@StuffedCabbageAdventures4 ай бұрын
Hey there! Even if the top statue and old fortress part are under reconstruction, there are many lookout spots which you can visit which have excellent views of the city. However I would personally not visit them during the fireworks. Space is limited, it's one of the best viewing spots so it's always very crowded. In general all good spots will be crowded, in my opinion anywhere near the banks of the river is fine, it will be a lot of people everywhere anyways 😊
