Actually, a majority of us have read the whole trilogy. Our biggest inspiration was the movie Airplane, which is probably what makes it seem so "retarded" as you eloquently put it. Also, there's a dancing scene because we wanted to dance.

I think the one we used was given out as a promotion at the theater, but I'm sure you can buy one at Barnes and Noble or something, or just print one out. I think we masked it pretty well in the video but that pin was not durable. We had to keep taping it or coloring over parts that would get bent. It barely last a week.

All the music in the video (aside from Rihanna) is taken from the film's score, so the song that plays during Rue's death is the same one from the movie: "Rue's Farewell".

I use Final Cut or Avid, which makes it easier to dub audio, use split-screen effects, and a lot of more detailed stuff. For the hallucination sequence I used a (pretty sloppy) garbage matte to make Peeta's head float around.

Ha, that's fine. It's a surprise to us too. Our intention was just to have fun and make a parody (and dance, I guess), never to get views online. I haven't promoted this video at all except for posting links on facebook and tumblr for my friends. At first, a majority of our views came from people searching for "Hunger Games Parody", so I'm sure the title helped. But our parody has gotten more views than other parodies that were out at the time, so I guess people just think it's funny.

YAY! I laughed out loud at several points through this. I loved the way you had to be familiar with the original books to get some of the jokes. Effie was especially brilliant! Don't take too much notice of those that make minor criticisms, like Rue being white, or the backpack being the wrong color - it's a parody! Any HG fan watching would get the references immediately. I think it was a great job. Now do "Mockingjay" and have Katniss spend the whole video hiding behind the lockers!
