Axe could grind this with Young Link & absolutely beat Hbox. He almost reversed 3-0'd him at Shine 2 years ago by switching to Young Link. But (I guess out of stubbornness), he keeps underestimating & downplaying Puff, and thus the result is always the same. If he treated Puff like he treated Icies, he'd take at least one set over him.

I think unstoppable projectiles like Falco laser are a better bet. Both characters have good kill options and while Yoink has a better recovery I don't think he has enough effective tools to win neutral.

He actually didn't. The boomerang never came back to him, it grazed just under him, going into and under the stage, then coming back from the top of the screen right after he tried to throw it again. That happens quite a lot with YL, though most of the time it's when hitting low on a shield. It might not be that easy to spot, but as the #1 YL player in the world I was kind of surprised he missed it. Might be a lack of sound.

cross25011990 look up the history of how those characters fare against Hbox in tournament.. the matchup is pretty much impossible for Pika if the Jigglypuff decides to play defensively (and punish every mistake you make, as would happen against the current #1 player)

Armada quit partly because of puff but mainly because he already achieved his status as the best player of all time so he didn't have any incentive to keep competing. Plus he makes more money streaming than earning the prize pots from winning so there's that. Also, Plup did tweet that he'll take a break from melee because of not wanting to play against Hbox but his break was only like a couple months long. But all the other top players who left didn't quit because of Hbox. PPMD retired due to health issues, M2K is busy writing his book, and Leffen seems to focus more on ultimate than melee nowadays. It's okay. Melee isn't dying just because Hbox is winning most of the tournaments. In fact, Hbox started dominating in 2016 and the game is still alive and well 3 years later so competitive melee isn't going anywhere.

armada quit, peepee hasn't (and probably won't) return. hbox learned how to not get cheesed by zain and started abusing ledge camping vs falcon so the only person that can stop him is leffen. mango fell off and since he plays falco hes out if he ever plays zain. feels like plup is pretty much done with the game since he's tired of playing hbox. it's like this is all stemming from a single character having a big advantage over the rest of the cast...
