Hunt 21 - Know your Limits

Join us in part four of our annual hunting adventure where we hunt high and low in search of wild dogs and deer. I hunt the ridge line while Leigh takes April up the valley floor once more. Things soon heat up in more ways than one and I am reminded how quickly water plays a big part in keeping yourself in tune.

Its not easy to be a hunter guys but I am wondering do you guys never wearing something bright for example a orange baseball cap ???

Hunting is certainly full of challenges. Depending on where we are hunting we will often put on some form of blaze orange if required.

Excellent video Steve , nothing like an armed bush walk - just makes you more determined next time. Can I ask what the scope is on your rifle, I used a Redfield 2-7 x35 from memory for years and years all the back to 1974 on an Eddystone in .270 Win and it was terrific in that sort of country. Thanks mate. The scope on the Bergara at the moment is a Swarovski Z6i 1-6. I am really growing to love this rifle scope combination.

If a snake can get through those pants he deserves to tag me. Never been a massive fan of gaiters myself and only wear them some times. I've hunted all year round for over 50yrs and not once felt that gaiters would have saved me. The more venomous the snake the shorter the teeth in most cases. Just my opinion but just get in a habit of looking where you are putting your hands and feet, well that is unless you get tired and make a mistake. Snakes are not as big a deal as everyone makes out. It's more the shock factor when you are not expecting that puts you on edge. Back away and they'll leave you alone majority of the time. It's all part of being out in the bush.

That was some lovely scrub and countryside you get to walk through. Nice to see April out working again, there is nothing like watching a working dog out doing their stuff. Robbo, that is an interesting backpack/ vest you are using, could you post details of it please? Perhaps you and Leigh might like to, every now and again, do an update of the kit you both use, reason for liking it and any difference of opinions and why. That would be a good excuse for a rainy day get together but I am quite sure you two don't need excuses for that. As always, thanks for the videos.

Thanks James. It certainly is a nice area to hunt. My vest is based on a Camelbak Delta 5 but they are no longer in production. We might look into that sort of video some time this year.

Brilliant content as always! Im a bit the same myself when it comes to hunting and as I dont like the heat one bit. Even over here in the central west region (vic) its still very dry and barron where I usually hunt. Its like walking on cornflakes right now. We really need some rain big time mate. Fingers crossed :)

When I'm prepared for the heat I don't mind it but I wasn't ready for the day to push into the mid 30's and a faulty Camelbak bladder didn't help. Losing about 20% of my water. New one on its way.
