Hi Kewtr Post, Very sorry to hear a comment like yours from a fellow sailor. Like many others I love my Hunter 31 Sailboat, it sails great, has a great comfortable living space and just like any sailboat requires maintenance, renovation and tender loving care. It is a joy and a beautiful boat. I love working on it and love to share my experiences with others. Happy Sailing.

Nice! Did you clean and sand or just use liquid gold?
@WindyDazeSunnyDaze3 жыл бұрын
Hi CIRCE Sensei, Thanks for the ? I cleaned first with a damp cloth mainly to make sure it was as dust free as possible. Let it dry well then used the Liquid Gold. I got the idea from a boat surveyor. Worked great much better than any other product I had tried.

Definitely try this first, I was amazed how well it works, my survey guy was the one who recommended it, I tried others and nothing else was even close.

I know the video is aged a bit, as is the wood, I think the product is a great option in most cases of light wear. Your results look great, I will have to give it a try. I don't think one could do better than stripping, sanding and refinishing. There are a ton of hours involved in that process, but where it would shine is not so much on the dry wood, but rather on the wood that has had water damage, scrapes and scuffs. For example, the upper third of your locker, the cosmetic issues are still visible. But it looks worlds better with the dozens if not hundreds of labor hours saved. Too, note that the product is a conditioner. It provides oils to the material. The fact that it is not a sealant such as a varnish means it will dry out in time and need re-applied, kind of like using Pledge, unlike a varnish which could last more than a decade. Great solution for getting a boat ready to sell without putting all the expenses and time into refinishing though. Thank you for sharing the tip.

Hi Andrea Ramos, Thanks for the comment. The Hunter 31 is known for its large cabin for a boat of that size. It was one of the attributes that I noticed as well.

i just bought same boat but it got 30hp engine fitted to it, how is it in rough seas?
@WindyDazeSunnyDaze6 жыл бұрын
Hi Stuart Reid, Thanks for your comment and wow that is the largest engine (30HP) I have ever heard for a Hunter 31. That extra horsepower should be great and will definitely be an asset. The Hunter 31 has a large cabin with a lot of freeboard for a 31' boat so it it does catch wind on the hull more other boats of that size. Be safe have fun.

Nobody in their right mind would spend any time on a Hunter sailboat. Total garbage. Basically a mistresses apartment. Not worth a hoist.
