Incredible hog and coyote hunting footage from Chris Robinson of Night Crew TV, including this large boar that ran full steam at Chris from about 100 yards away after being shot.
All hunt footage was shot through the eyepiece of the Trijicon REAP-IR thermal scope. This video footage illustrates the incredible image quality seen during use.
**Feral Hog Problem in Texas**
Each year feral hogs cause millions of dollars in damage in the form of damaged crops, contaminated water supplies, broken equipment, transmission of disease and injury to livestock.
Due to their intelligence, adaptability, and prolific breeding habits, traditional methods of hunting and trapping have been largely ineffective in reducing the feral hog population. Since feral hogs are not considered game animals in Texas they may be hunted by any means or methods at any time of year. Some of these methods include large round traps with remote trigger capability, hunting with dogs, and helicopter hog hunts.
Recently, with the increased availability and affordability of night vision and thermal optics, farmers, hunters and citizens alike have access to new weapons/tools to aid in the fight against feral hogs.
**Why hunt coyotes?**
Coyotes are presently the most abundant livestock predators in western North America, causing the majority of sheep, goat, and cattle losses. For example, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, coyotes were responsible for 60.5% of the 224,000 sheep deaths attributed to predation in 2004.The total number of sheep deaths in 2004 comprised 2.22% of the total sheep and lamb population in the United States, which, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service USDA report, totaled 4.66 million and 7.80 million heads respectively as of July 1, 2005. Because coyote populations are typically many times greater and more widely distributed than those of wolves, coyotes cause more overall predation losses. The United States government agents routinely shoot, poison, trap, and kill about 90,000 coyotes each year to protect livestock.
Coyotes typically bite the throat just behind the jaw and below the ear when attacking adult sheep or goats, with death commonly resulting from suffocation. Blood loss is usually a secondary cause of death. Calves and heavily fleeced sheep are killed by attacking the flanks or hindquarters, causing shock and blood loss. When attacking smaller prey, such as young lambs, the kill is made by biting the skull and spinal regions, causing massive tissue and bone damage. Small or young prey may be completely carried off, leaving only blood as evidence of a kill.
In the absence of the harassment of coyotes practiced by rural people, urban coyotes are losing their fear of humans, which is further worsened by people intentionally or unintentionally feeding coyotes. In such situations, some coyotes have begun to act aggressively toward humans, chasing joggers and bicyclists, confronting people walking their dogs, and stalking small children. Non-rabid coyotes in these areas sometimes target small children, mostly under the age of 10, though some adults have been bitten.

As someone who used to hike (when younger) I can personally attest that wild boars are scary as hell. We all climbed trees and I happened to pick a slightly thin one. They tore at that 5" trunk until about 2-3 inches were left before giving up, and then only because my friends distracted them. They have very sharp tusks, are smarter than some of the commenters here, and hunt in packs.

I just came across your channel and subscribed. This is fantastic imagery, dreamlike, other worldly, trippy. As an artistic photographer and videographer, I am now fascinated with night vision. Plus I know you are serving a useful service to farmers. I own land in northern Maine and it's almost overrun with coyotes, they are not in short supply and they will attack humans and farm animals. Haven't seen any wild boar yet but I wouldn't be surprised if they're around.

Once a shot is fired, they run away from the noise. Perhaps a remote controlled contraption that issues shot noise and light flashes could be placed at locations around the field in advance and triggered after the first shots in order to confuse the pigs about which direction to run. This would help to keep them in range.

Great video and I must say AMAZING running commentary from some here in the peanut gallery that I would bet have never shouldered a rifle, or hunted hog or coyote (or anything else) in their life! Where's YOUR hog hunting video's on youtube so I can watch them? Aren't any? hmm..shocked I am lol. It takes skill AND nerve to hunt dangerous game with a bolt gun instead of a semi auto AR platform with a thirty round mag..and yes, I own both. It REALLY takes a lot of nerve and presence of mind to manage to get off a follow up shot at something that is extremely pissed off and charging at you! It's very easy to arm chair quarter back someone from the comfort of your home while critiquing a real hunter who is actually in the field.

Every summer when I was young I used to spend it on my aunt and uncle's farm. Every evening he and I would go up on the hill that looked down where the cattle was kept during the day. At first I didn't understand what we were getting ready to do until my uncle shot the first groundhog. I asked him what was the purpose of that are we going to eat it. He started laughing and said if I wanted to have it for dinner I had to go down here and skin it myself. He went on to tell me that the holes that they put in the fields are very dangerous for his cattle. If one of them falls into a hole they could break their leg and they have done that in the past. So after he took me out there a couple times part of my summer chores was to go up on the hill early in the morning as the sun was coming up and then back up there again in the evening as the sun was setting. I would have killed for her night vision back then. I don't know if back in the late '70s and early '80s if the public was allowed to buy them. If you were I'm sure it was very expensive. Just a size of the scope was impressive. Today with the technology it's unbelievable. I really do miss sitting up on that hill.

Zack you're giving animals way too much credit-they're not human beings "with families" that they introduce to each other when they go out, no matter how hard some people try to disprove it. They're not born with an inherent sense of shame, have a conscience, or an ability to reason beyond what animals are inherently programed with from birth. If they did feel shame and have a conscience they wouldn't regularly kill, eat, and/or mate with their young/family while the rest of them watched.

At 1:38 to about 1:46 you can see above to the left of the coyote, back in the trees something walk up behind a tree, bend down and poke its head out and pull it back. I believe that's a Bigfoot. It's clearly walking upright, stooping down behind a tree, peaking out to see what is going on. Then pulling his head back. The head moves upward as is it being pulled back. and it looks like a hand is put on the side of the tree before it's head pops out. Unless you had other hunters in the woods, stupid enough to be in the line of fire, what is that? Everyone send this to ThinkerThunker so he can stabilize, zoom in and analyze it.
