The most talented snooker player in the world and someone with a personality as bubbly as a glass of the finest champagne. Who didn't admire and like and respect Paul Hunter? As modest and charming a man as you could wish to meet and had true Yorkshire grit as he showed us all here. To come back from the jaws of defeat and beat Ronnie proved Paul had skill and determination in spades. To me, his early death was sports saddest loss anywhere in the world. Paul's wife and baby girl must have suffered too at the loss, but we all shared that loss with you both and it's good to know you found happiness eventually with another man Lindsey. We'll never have another Paul Hunter and you know what?.....I'm glad of it. He was a one-off and irreplaceable both as a player and a man. God bless, Paul.

Loved watching this guy play! A picture of perfect health and to think he would be dead just 2 years later is absolutely heartbreaking. Be grateful for every moment because life is so unpredictable for us all. He certainly was the ‘Beckham of the Baize’, what a talent! RIP Paul Hunter, gone way to soon - so unfair. 😞🙏🏻

My brother lost his life to cancer on Easter Sunday, only diagnosed 9 months ago. He would be 65 next Tuesday. He and I were brought up on snooker, our dad playing for the local club years ago, my brother played and so did I to a lesser extent. Like Paul lost his life only 2 years after this game, little did we know a year ago when my brother took me out for lunch with his best pal and his wife that he would soon lose his life. As you say, be grateful for every moment because life is so unpredictable for us all but for Paul at 27, married with a young child, a top snooker player, he had so much in front of him. Such losses make me so angry.

It's good to know that there is a snooker tournament named the Paul Hunter Classic. "The tournament started in 2004 as the Grand Prix Fürth and was staged in Furth, Germany. After two years as the Fürth German Open, it was renamed the Paul Hunter Classic in 2007 in memory of the late player Paul Hunter" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Hunter_Classic)
