I think if I would have done this build I would have gone the extra buy of insulation for the floor, walls & roof then you would really have a real cozy place for the small cost of a couple rolls of the insulation. It does make one hell of a big difference. I am in Western Pennsylvania and the winters here get really cold and the insulation would do it's job for sure.

Put hooks on the walls for hanging coats, packs, etc, etc. Put 2x4's 's up in the rafters right over the front door with a shelf about about 2 ft wide all the way across for more storage, put shelves on the walls above the single bed, but high enough so you don't hit them getting in an out of the bed, maybe gun an bow hangers on the walls to, an let's not forget at least one deer skull on the wall, after all it is a hunting cabin, thx for the vid.

Ok, let me see if I have this correct. You guys work your tails off to build a cabin in the woods so you can eat all the unhealthy things your wives frown upon without guilt,, drink beer and other alcoholic beverages, BBQ, tell fun stories, go out into the woods before dawn, take naps, view wildlife , then at noon you meet up with your buddies to eat and drink sone more , tell stories , relax then go your separate ways back into the woods to your favorite spot for another nap, or stroll in the woods , or possibly hang your ass off a log to be one with nature, then when the sun is setting you head back to camp for more food, suds, and festivities. You repeat this euphoric activity daily until you have to go home. The code name for this male bonding event is referred to as Hunting Some people call it a fishing trip and I’m told real men do this at least once per year to keep their sanity. Makes total sense to me. Time to start collecting pallets!

FREE insulation from couch/chair cushions , use FREE galvanized duct for miceproofing you'll want at least a foot thick and use tyvek and visqueen and heavyweight roofing felt , so for 10x12 you'll oversize to 14x16 and use propane stove to cook/heat with or lard ( porkchop /hog spine fat ) candles

@@ThisLifeOutdoors: TA Outdoors in england built a pallet cabin (another son and dad project) and they put in a small wood stove that not only heats the place really well, but they do their coffee and tea on it and cook food there too. It also has an oven that fits with the stovepipe. If you did that, then you could eventually do away with outside electricity altogether. A small solar panel with a vented battery box in the rafters of the porch, LED lighting, and a 12 volt fridge the size of what you are using and even if a storm knocked out power to the area, y'all would still be good. And get a percolator (stainless stell from wayfare.com) cause there is no better smell in the morning than the slight hint of wood smoke and fresh perked coffee. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3mkZa2Pbd12r7s

Have you ever thought of putting in a hanging stove? You wouldn't need a big one due to the size of the cabin, but out here in Western Okla., we build small ones out of Disc Blades from our tractors. You put two together and weld the seam. They basically look like two cooking Woks stacked onto of each other. Then you take a plasma cutter and cut a little door or just an opening (depending on preference) on one side and a small hole on the other for the stove pipe. it actually suspends from the ceiling so you don't have a stove on the floor. It will not use huge logs as you won't need those anyhow. I will dig through some of my old photos and see if I can find a few pics and designs for you guys. Great video, and the cabin turned out amazing.

To all the guys that keep saying a wood stove "Would make it perfect", they have electricity! As small as that cabin is, the body heat alone from those guys was enough to keep it warm. I don't think you could get a wood stove small enough to keep from driving you out of there. Besides, this isn't living off grid or bush crafting, these guys have a buck or two. They just choose to buy things on the cheap (hence the buck or two) and do it themselves.

pretty sweet ! you coulda brought trailer out there again also but then there would be no point in building a cabin yes the cabin is way cooler probably not as comfortable though, but i think of a sweet cabin like this deep in a remote woods where you can only access with a side by side and trailer or the whole point goes away (for me) if i can drive my motor-home out there :) all good but just how i think i guess :)
