Greg is back in Namibia, hunting both Buffalo and Leopard, with a side of Plains Game. Greg used his trusty .375 h&h mag on this hunt.
(Greg's next hunt, Tanzania: • Video )
As before you can enjoy the complete experience with us. You'll see that hunting isn't just driving around shooting everything you see. Greg and Emile scouted the Waterberg for days to familiarize themselves with the genetics available. They passed up on huge bulls which was still young. The ultimate goal is to hunt an old bull, one that passed on his genetics over the years. Buffalo are one of the most dangerous game to hunt, it's always exciting!
Greg also hunted Leopard with his old friend Danie Botha. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful yet again. In 2018 Greg tried for Leopard in Namibia but also went home empty handed. Namibian Leopard are some of the hardest to hunt.
Greg traveled to a few areas, revisiting the concessions and friends he knew from eight years ago when he came to Africa for the first time. To some hunters the experience of being in Africa, meeting people and experiencing the culture, is more important than the actual hunting.
This is one of the longest videos we've uploaded, viewers can enjoy the full experience of this long and relaxed hunt. If you wish to jump to only the action packed parts, follow these links:

@GeorgeSemel

I got four of them, a 6.5 x 55, a 7 x 62, 7mm RM and a 338 Winchester. The 338 is a Sako 75 and maybe the best rifle I ever owned. I zeroed it in when I bought it in 1996 and it still puts that load right where I sighed it 2"" high @ 100 to this day. I shoot two shots to check zero and then I go hunting, I killed 15 Alaska-Yukon Moose with it when I was living and working there. They are maybe the best out-of-the-box production rifle that you can actually afford to buy. To do better and it's not by much, you have to go to John Rigby. Something I just lust for is one of theirs in 375 or 416 Rigby. No flies on the Tikkas either.

That First buffalo made my day, the Rhinos well that would have made the whole trip for me even If I never fired a single shot. I been binge-watching these African Sun Productions since they show up on my youtube feed. The one thing I have noticed is that by the time we are financially set to do a trip, we are pretty much old men. Myself included- Moral Uncle Sam Taxes us too much. Right now the ammo shortage is driving me nuts. So I am not shooting as much as I should. Namibia is a country I would like to visit and maybe take a walk with a much loved 338 Winchester Mag.

Martin, I love how you also include footage of all the camp staff, and the "behind the scenes" jobs they do, into your productions. To some it may seem mundane, but to others it gives them a glimpse of these peoples' lives and of the roles they have, as a team, in making each hunt a success. I also hope all the antis and SJWs realise that their BS works to strip these people of their long-term employment and a livelihood that each hunt provides - which would not otherwise be available - in these rural areas of high unemployment. Brilliant stuff!! Keep them coming!! 👍

@AfricanSunProductions
@AfricanSunProductions 14 күн бұрын
Thanks! I appreciate you watching. The red light doesn't scare the animals as much as a white light, it gives you a few more seconds. To me the main advantage is that it doesn't interfere with your natural night vision. If you turn off the red light you can still see a bit, if your eyes are adjusted to a bright white light and you turn it off, you need a few seconds to see without light.

beautiful horn color on that last old kudu. entire hunt was enjoyable to view. p.s., i imagine you ate some meat from that old broken horn oryx; mentioning that would stand you/us better in the eye's of *uncertain youth.* we've found, with american big game, old animals who are no longer breeding/fighting, typically have extraordinarily tender meat. naturally, many 'prosperous living' city dwellers have no idea the necessity of you killing meat to feed many people, even remoteness may require killing, 'harvesting.' horns and hides also have market values, thankfully, beyond sad boring beef. personally prefer the variety of seasonal flavors and textures of wild meat to even the best beef, tho lamb is nice. thanks for sharing your hunts
@AfricanSunProductions

African game meat is very good, but you need someone that knows what he's doing to prepare it. Older animals tend to be tough. Females and young males have good meat though. I do like game meat,and it's much healthier also.

@Whittling Cowboy The Waterberg Plateau National Park, where this hunt took place, is about a 100k continuous acre wilderness area with WILD animals. No ranching or genetic manipulation goes on there. The Waterberg rests on top of a table mountain structure, meaning that it's almost completely protected from outside intrusion. Only a very short section of game fence is found near the lowest point of the plateau, in order to prevent the buffalo and cattle in the ranchland from intermingling, which would spread Foot and Mouth Disease and TB. I would suggest actually looking into the information surrounding a particular area before spouting bold statements like, "Certainly does not look like hunting to me."

You present your rifle as a 375 Sako. There are many 375 caliber cartridges out there, such as 375 Ruger, 375 Cheytac, etc., none of which is a 375 Sako. I understand that your rifle is manufactured by Sako, who chambered some of their guns in 375 H & H Magnum, so I assume that unless you have a custom/wildcat cartridge chambering, you have a 375 H & H Magnum, which is, by the way, ballistically inferior to the others mentioned here.

@AfricanSunProductions
@AfricanSunProductions 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, and I agree the Namibian night sky is amazing. None of these animals are killed as just a trophy. Every bit of meat is used, even the intestines are eaten. All of the hide are processed, and the bones are also used. Bigger picture even is that the money is used to dig more waterholes. Fund anti-poaching. Feed during draughts. Hunting isn't just a sport, it's absolutely necessary to protect species as a whole.
@colb9916

@@AfricanSunProductions Its hard for many to understand the necessity of taking older animals. They've passed their genes on, into the genepool and as such, the individual animal is then most valuable as revenue. Food for many that would otherwise not eat meat. Hunting costs payed into the community , trackers, skinners, cooks, camp assistants, drivers etc. Much put towards anti poaching measures and other means that benefit all the animals and peoples on the reserve. Hunting trips do much much more than just kill animals. Great vid guys. some beautifull country and resources utilized to the benefit of all.
