Hunting for shells after a storm on Sanibel after a tornado touched down was exhilarating to say the least. Hunting shells is always fun, but when a storm rolls through, all sorts of shells and fun things wash up onto the beach.

I am really enjoying your sea shell adventures without having to breathe in the Florida humidity. Lived in Michigan & Ohio for too many years to enjoy the Humidity. Recently was in Naples, caring for my elderly parents, now in Northern California @4,000 ft...not much humidity here. . Caring for remaining elderly parent. Grey squirrels, varieties of bird summer v.s. winter; deer, black bear, coyote & skunks, rats, mice... usual Forest critters; none with hard, colorful 🐚 shells, however. Spring is blooming, pollen in the air & on the vehicles... yep, not much humidity! Not rain, either, in our drought (not-filled) waters. May you enjoy your day!

@Robin Segnitz I'm headed down from WV on March 2nd. I'll be there a week. I was there ( sanibell, venice, & Fort myers) in Nov. I had never really cared for shells but now I'm addicted. Did you mainly shell there? Do you recommend any shelling tours? I had two other ladies with me and done whatever they wanted so I'm curious? I appreciate any input or recommendations. I certainly hope that you had an amazing trip. They say, any day at the beach is a great day. I agree. Thank you for any info.

@@304girlriggs7 I just shelled there on Fort Myers Beach. I find the shelling on FMB better than Sanibel or Captiva, although I have never hit one of them after a major storm. Just get out for early for the low tides, especially the negative low tides. I usually shell mid-island in FMB. I may try Lover’s Key the next time I visit.

I'm so excited, as I'm headed down to Sanibell and SW Florida the 2nd of March. I was there in Nov, the 8th-16th but didnt know all that I now know. I found your channel when I got back home from Florida and instantly wanted to go back but got covid. I'm FINALLY better so its shelling time! Thank you for everything you've taught me. I actually brought a live critter home and it stunk horribly. Idk there was a critter in there, as it was a tiny cone shell. ( yes, I felt awful) I now know to look a lot closer. Bless you and Happy Shelling.

I hope you find everything you're looking for when you come in March! And I hope it warms up a bit. I went shelling for hours today in the 50's and froze my butt off!

Hey hey!! New follower - was inspired to visit keewaydin island after seeing your videos. I found SO MUCH AWESOME! Wish I could share a photo here with you but I was like a kid in a candy store. A fairly big horse conch (tan/orange about 4-5 inches long), and tons of alphabet cones (one was very big at 2 d 1.5 inches) and the colors were just so amazing. Tons of pink and orange shells there. I think the colors change some based on the type of algae and other things they're eating. Anyway, bunch of other great ones too. A channeled welk(which I learned what it was from you), and my new fave the buttercup lucenes. I wish I had stayed longer!!! Also I just love the sound of your voice and your accent - well done on these videos!!

Unfortunately I doubt the beach looks this beautiful now after Hurricane Ian. But they're probably are still some Treasures to find but getting on to the beach now it would be nearly impossible. It's very sad what has happened to Sanibel Island and all the other surrounding areas. I hope things can be brought to some normalcy soon. Loved to visit this beach. I live in Kissimmee Florida.

Wow those were some great finds! Those big shark eyes and the horse conchs were amazing! I do think you have to get at like 2-3 in the morning to be the absolutely first one out. I've been to the beach at 3 in the morning before (as you've said I am one of those loons haha) and I only ever start to see other people after around 4 AM. Admittedly, that was during the off season but I don't think too many people go at that time anyway. Also, that big shark eye has some discoloration I think due to it being buried in anoxic sand/mud. This happens due to low oxygen levels and it's cool to see how that black was implemented in the growth of the shell! Thanks for sharing, hope you're doing well!

I have only found a handful of those big, fat shark eyes and I just love them. To find 2 in one way was outstanding. I wish I liked the night shelling more. Its drives me crazy I can only see a few feet in front of me and knowing you can only do the night shelling in off-turtle season sure does cut down on the opportunities. A red light would definitely drive me mad! Thanks for watching! I think I have a few of your videos I need to catch up on.

Welcome aboard! You are going to learn about shells for sure 😃 I enjoy watching "Solace in Shelling," "Shell Stories" and when I can I also try to catch Jaime with "Plum Island Sea Cabin." Since I make videos I'm SUPER picky about what seashell videos I choose to watch 🤣
