Some things about squirrels that I’ve learned. 1 - we never hunt them in the wind if it’s strong. They don’t really ever want to play the game 2 - our strategy has been to remain quiet and sit still. You can also walk and hunt them but always stay quiet. We hunt them with .22 only. Scoped semi auto. 3 - my dad get the best meat from the squirrel and puts it in the crockpot and gets it all soft and falling apart. He pours chicken broth, wide egg noodles, celery, and carrots and makes chicken noodle soup with the squirrel meat and sometimes even rabbit. It’s my favorite meal I’ve had because it’s my grandmas homemade chicken noodle soup recipe with wild game. Awesome vid Flair!

I agree for the most part with this fella. But I typically use my single shot 20. But windy is typically a no go for squirrel hunting. But another way to cook them is slow in the oven like some kind of roast. Ofcourse fry them. On the grill wrapped in aluminum foil with your preferred seasoning and veggies. Or jalapeños would be good to use as well.

Squirrel has to be the easiest animal to hunt. They are naturally curious animals. My strat has always been full camo with face mask. Walk into the woods to the largest tree in the area. Sit under it and be as still as possible. Within 20 min you’ll have a nosey tree rat staring you down from 10 yards away, trying to figure out what you are.

For the onions, cut the ends off and can let it sit in a bowl of ice water or put it in the sink and let it sit under slow running water for a few seconds. The stuff that makes your tear is attracted to moisture. The water will help draw it out before cutting.

@zorrorides13 жыл бұрын
You add some flour to a 1/2 cup of broth or whatever liquid you are cooking with that is cooled down and stir it in to make a thin paste (a roux) then add that slowly while stirring with a wish to the pot of hot broth or stew. When you bring the result back to a boil for a minute or so it will thicken up to a nice gravy consistency. If you just add flout to the hot pot of liquid it will lump up badly.

2 tricks that WORK! Freeze your onions before cutting OR put a piece of bread in your mouth while cutting! Big fans! Give em a try!
@RebelyuN-me6ut3 жыл бұрын
The trick to not crying with onions is super easy, from experience I used to cut around 5LBS of onions per day for about 3 years of my life. 1. Extremely sharp knife, you should barely even have to apply pressure for the cut to begin. 2. Leave the root end in tact, otherwise the onion excretes more of the tear gas. Follow those two simple steps and the tears are gone
@shawnstafford7703 жыл бұрын
If you fry squirrel pressure cook it for a few minutes or boil it before you fry it. Squirrel and gravy and biscuits with fried taters and onions is one of our favorite meals. A close 2nd would be squirrel and dumplings. Boil the squirrel in chicken stock with onions and when it's tender take it off the bone. Add mixed frozen vegetables and let warm a little then of you don't want to make dumplings just use regular canned biscuits. Sprinkle flour on a cutting board mash them flat and cut in 1 inch strips. When the stock is back up to a small boil add the dumplings and when they're cooked down to a noodle consistency chow down. Eat with cornbread

You gotta slow cook down the squirrel with some stock, onions, and jalapeños. Find a spot with lots of squirrel sign and sit down at the base of a tree. In about 10-15 minutes they start moving again. If you're just walking through the woods, especially once the leaves are down, they'll see you coming from a mile away and just hide. You have to make squirrel noodle soup. Best way to cook them.

Your dish looked delicious, my hubby and I watch your videos all the time and the catch and cooks are my favs. As you asked broth is made from bones that are simmered for a longer period of time making it more flavourful and a deeper in colour, richer in flavour and a bit thicker in texture. Stock is made with basically the same thing as broth but not cooked for as long. Still has decent flavour but not quite as much. So stock is good for soups because you can add a lot more of your own flavours. Broth is good for gravy’s because of how dark and thick they are. ☺️
