Very seldom does anything put me on the edge of my seat. Especially in my own home! But that's exactly what this video did to me. Unbelievably exciting! Thank you so much for taking me along with you Randy. Hat's off to you sir and your camera man.👍

Hunting where I live in Northern NH is some of the toughest in the country but at least it's all open to hunting and don't have to worry about posted land.

I wish all hunters were as ethical & took as much pride into their hunting as you do, Randy. I enjoy all your videos, & I used some of your tips & tricks to take my first bull this season. He was a great looking 6x7, I appreciate your videos helping us along.

In Washington you call the game warden and tell them you need to access private land to collect your game. If the property owner says “no”, they can be issued a citation for wasting a game animal. Call your local game office and find out what the situation is before assuming you can’t collect a legally harvested game animal on public land that hops a man made boundary.

I am having hard time thinking that the trespass fee is much more considerable than the helicopter fee. Maybe it’s the principle, which I won’t argue. I kinda like the “you won’t give me access to public land? Watch this!” I have another question that may be better for your live elk talk... which state would be the best to be a resident of to best maximize hunting opportunity? I need to relocate from California...

AS helicopter fee is very reasonable when split between three hunters (approx $750). Trespass fees in this area start around $5,000 and go up from there, given they usually require you go with their guides.

Thanks for that info! I am glad I found your channel. Flying in to a private locked piece of BLM would not have occurred to me. Is this area hard to draw for a nonresident?

And the real pisser here is if someone is hunting the private land they can go onto the public ground as well if the animals are there.

I have a serious question. Is that area still worth hunting after the fencing debacle with the neighboring landowners? Myself and a buddy should be able to draw tags next year. I have a few areas in mind...this being one of them, and we are trying to narrow it down. I am just curious to know if the fences have affected elk using the area.

On the north end where I hunt, the fences have significantly altered elk patterns. I would research in great detail before applying and incurring the cost to fly in there. Good luck.

what's that device you are using for property boundaries?

A Garmin GPS with the landowner surface map chips from www.onXmaps.com. Those chips are the best money you will spend this season. Good luck.

I think if you average one close encounter per trip or even per season, you're doing great. Whether you put it all together and get a kill is another story. We are trying to kill an elk with a stick......it ain't easy. I really enjoyed this vid.

I used to live in Superior Mt and have hunted that country. Step, rugged, and a lot of timber. Used to be great elk country.

I don’t understand. If that bull would’ve died on someone else’s property you can just call the game warden to help you retrieve it. The landowner can’t stop a game warden. Would it have taken too long before the meat would spoil?

If you shoot an Elk on public land & there is proof of blood, you can go onto private land in pursuit of that animal.

Not in most states I hunt. Additionally, out of respect for the property owner, I would never enter their property without seeking permission.
