I have a Tika 300wsm it does buck a bit but the accuracy is worth it

They have a fantastic action, good trigger, accurate barrel. I love tikka rifles, my only complaint is recoil. It’s very light weight and the recoil pad is to stiff. I have put limbsaver recoil pads on and that certainly helps. Part of my issue is I enjoy going to the range and I like to be able to use everything I have at the range, bench rest shooting a 300 win mag or 7 rem mag tikka isn’t much fun.

I also added limbsaver it helped a lot and you're right no fun to shoot on the bench but when standing not so bad.

Sorry you had a bad go of it with your Mossberg Patriot. I have one in 7mm Rem Mag, it has a muzzle brake on it and will drive tacks at 300 yards. I have gotten 1 inch groups at 500 with it too.

From what I can tell that’s the case, about 75% of the time people really like them and are happy with them. The other 25% of the time it’s similar to my experience, which leads me to believe they have some quality control issues. The guy that does the backfire channel had a very similar experience, he even sent his back to the factory for work. Overall the more people I talk to about the rifle, many like them.

what do you think of the X bolts?
@Canadianhunter
@Canadianhunter Жыл бұрын
I have owned two and both were good rifles. I really like the inflex recoil pads. They also really have good cartridge options. For the money it’s a very solid option.

@@Canadianhunter yea its going to be the x bolt or the model 70. Thanks
@Canadianhunter

@@rainsong7327 both are great choices, I lean slightly towards the browning xbolt as you get a bit more gun for your money.

I have a Howa 1500 in .270 and a Tikka T3x in 7mm-08. Both work well and I’m happy with them. The Tikka needs to be sighted properly and the scope is off. And the Howa needs a new scope but works perfectly.
@Canadianhunter

I like the howa action and trigger just not the stock. I love tikka rifles, just a 300 win mag is a terrible choice in a tikka. They are to light and have a crappy recoil pad.

@@Canadianhunter I’ve gotten a limbsaver and the Howa is in Smith and Wesson furniture, which I believe is walnut. The Tikka is getting a new recoil pad

Speaking of the Howa 1500, I have both a .257 Wby and a 6.5 Creedmore, but on the Weatherby Vanguard 2. They both are extremely accurate rifles and are outfitted with Weatherby stocks. Nothing I have ever shot before equals the recoil absorption as well as the Weatherby stock design. Also, if you handload you can overcome the short comings of factory ammo. Had a friend who couldn't get a Remington 700 to shoot ANY factory ammo consistently or accurately in 300 Win mag, he was going to sell the rifle and instead gave it to his son in law for a gift. I gathered up his spent brass and within 20 rounds had this rifle shooting consistent 1/2 in groups at 100yds, simply by handloading his favorite hunting bullet. Not too many handloaders can't get a rifle to at least shoot acceptably enough for hunting purposes, notice I wrote "handloaders" not "reloaders" there's a difference, and it's measured in inches!

@@Drivapete I totally agree, just a couple grains of powder or seating the bullet less or more can make a world of difference. It’s why for example virtually all fclass shooters make their own ammunition. Finding what works best in a rifle is important. I have taken a 2 moa rifle to under 1 moa with load development. Factory ammunition can be extremely inconsistent. Same with reloading components, I have weighed every bullet one by one and organized them that way before when I was trying to squeeze every last bit of accuracy. I try not to be that picky anymore because 1 moa is more than good enough for any hunting rifle. Taking the time to get.6 instead isn’t worth it or needed in a hunting rifle. The only rifles I do that with anymore are my specific range rifles.

Should have put a break on the Tikka and a limbsaver pad! I know I have owned about 20 of them and doing this turned the gun into a great gun to pack! In my short 60+ years of hunting and reloading along with collecting rifles it’s our job to buy the proper gun for the job we need! The Howa and the Tikka are the 2 best rifles under $1,000. On the market today! I try not to buy more then a couple hundred rifles a year and do a lot of trading to try and get to shoot any rifle I have not shot before which is getting to be very few in my old age! My favorite are Sako’s then pre64’s and finally Weatherby’s!

@@edwardabrams4972 I did put a limbsaver on, but yes a muzzle brake would have helped. I owned it at a different point in my life, I was against muzzle brakes on hunting rifles. But now with electronic hearing protection it doesn’t really matter anymore. I hate to say it but it was also the groups I hunted with at the time, they would ride the heck out of anyone who didn’t use a magnum cartridge and would have really gone after anyone with a muzzle device. I don’t hunt with any of those guys anymore, sadly that group each went there own ways.
