Wilton Ferebee is a deck electrician specialist and Master Shipbuilder at Newport News Shipbuilding. He’s also a COVID-19 survivor. This spring, Ferebee found himself an intensive care unit and on a ventilator as a result of the virus. Now recovered and back at work, he has a message for fellow shipbuilders.

I tested positive for covid19. I am 30 years old. Lost sense of smell and taste. It has been 2 days from my results . I noticed symptoms last Saturday. I am going to fight . Fight for my family , friends and especially those who have passed away from this virus. For all of you out there , keep in mind..we are all fighting to survive . I got congestion then next day the cough deep in my chest I ignored it and thought it was from the fires that had been going on around my state because we got a lot of the smoke, but then 3 days later I lost my smell and taste I KNEW then I had covid without even thinking twice, the next 3 days I started having breathing problems, body aches and vomiting because of the headaches from hell from coughing hard and had fevers, so I went to the ER and they diagnosed me with pneumonia and did a covid test, but the test took 72hrs to 10 days to come back, so 2 days after the ER visit I had to call the paramedics I couldn't breathe at all it was like someone was smothering me, when they did my oxygen it had dropped to 73 I was rushed to the hospital where the doctor wanted to put me on a ventilator, but I refused it so they put me on a high liter of oxygen and gave me steroids, they did another covid test and expedited it and I was positive for covid pneumonia, the first ER visit my lung xray showed infection evenly spread to both lungs, the second ER visit my left lung had gotten way worse and they couldnt understand how fast it had spread. Covid took a toll on my lungs I've been out of the hospital for 4 weeks, and will have oxygen for a few months, I failed the oxygen walk test at the doctors office. The worst part of Covid is the breathing part it's depressing because you cant do a lot without running out of oxygen .

I got tested positive in covid19 last Nov 5th after 2 wks of quarantine i got tested again in covid19 and i still came up still positive in covid. My symptoms are muscle ache, weakness and a littlebit of shortness of breath and chest tightness. Its a nerve rocking. My wife was infected by me and my 2 year old daughter. Thank god my daughter fight the virus and she was immune. Basically I started doing steam inhaller and it helps to clear out my lungs right away and i tried to prevent the covid goes down to my lungs.. If you have asthma or a smoker its very difficult for you to get this virus. It's a nerve racking!! thank god me and my wife had mild symptoms only and were started getting better. So you people out there that doesnt believe that covid is a hoax!! ITS NOT!! ITS TRUE!! i BELIEVE NOW Coz i got infected and my wife. I still have lost my sense of smell my sense of taste went back. I catch this virus from my job coz someone get tested postive there and i infected my wife who is working at home. So im going to quit my job. And my life is worth and my familys life is worth it than my job. So be careful you guys out there this stupid virus is true it depends on your immunes system how to fight this. If your immune is compromised good luck take a lot of vitamins to protect yourself and always wear mask and social distancing....

My nephew was admittted with low oxygen covid positive non vaxed. They gave him oxygen and his levels dropped for 4 days. On the fourth day they gave him Ivermectin and 1 1/2 days later he was release almost as nothing had happened. Why they waited four days is beyond me. It’s almost like they are trying to make the virus fatal.

I will do what they ask, only to an extent, too. I don't plan to take the vaccine, any of them, for covid. I think it's a good rule of thumb to keep yourself as well as you can, stay away from electronics (i.e. smart phones and Smart meters) as much as you can (they are putting out 5G now and 5G puts out radiation that can cause these symptoms, too). eat healthy as often as you can, too, even though that may sound boring, because it can boost your immune system.

@@FORGVN -Yeah the doctor said it could of gotten in my eyes the droplets from someone who had it or produce or food items in boxes/packaging, I only went grocery shopping and to get fuel wore masks and used hand sanitizer and washed my hands when I got home, so it was kind of odd to me when they said I was positive for covid pneumonia, I was hospitalized for 6 days, and released on oxygen, I will be on oxygen for a few months covid took a toll on my lungs, this is my 4th week from being released from the hospital. The doctor wanted to put me on a ventilator but I was against it and would not let them put me on one my oxygen dropped to 73 when I had paramedics pick me up.

He prayed and God healed him, he said God told him to take a breath and suddenly he started breathing! God bless you made it 🙏🏼. I tested positive for covid February 15th, I am still trying to recover. It been such a traumatizing experience. Going to the ER and being told to go home to basically ride it out was so scary. I had a constant 103 fever, chest pain, shortness of breathe, headaches, and I keep going on. It’s now March 7th and I’m still battling with with the shortness of breathe, chest pain, headaches, dizziness, taste going in out, digestive issues, and sharp pain where my heart is located. I have an appointment with my PCP March 16th and I really hope I receive some answers. This has taken a toll on my body, COVID is very real. Please be safe, wash your hands, and wear face masks. My father also passed away February 22nd from covid and never had the chance to say bye. Stay safe everyone because you don’t know how this virus will affect you, your family or friends.

You just described my experience. It started as a cold, then a sore throat, then fever and on the 5th day I started having breathing issues. After a further 5 days my fever went but the sore throat remained for a while and the breathing issues were intermittent for over a month. Now after 5 months I still occasionally have a little tightness in the chest. Covid is real and I'm still suffering it's after effects. I'm in my thirties and fairly healthy. I wear a mask everywhere I go, I sometimes double mask it. I hate you anti-maskers. Just wait till it happens to you.

My dad tested positive on 24 th Sept. He was fine until 4 day later started coughing his lungs out. We took him to the hospital, and day by dad his condition is getting worse. 2 days ago ( 30 th Sept) he was given 1 st dose of tocilizumab, he felt better for a while but couple hours later his oxygen level dropped to 20%, They moved him to ICU and gave him another shot of tocilizumab, I havnt spoken to him since last night . An interesting fact regarding old age and Covid-19; My mother lives in Spain (I live in South Africa) , she turned 67 in July and was very worried when myself, boyfriend and daughter contracted the virus in July. She still said that if she ever gets this virus, that she knows it will be her end...my Mom did get the virus in August and pulled through! She made it AND my Mom has been smoking cigarettes since a teenager! Just goes to show that everything is not cut and dry with this virus.

Actually, there is some evidence that nicotine might block the same pathways as COVID and might, in some cases, make the disease less severe. Right now there are a few clinical trials using nicotine patches to test this theory.

@@KaRiNa-pj9sb we ate very badly though, I am the mother of the household, so it was my bad decision to order in everyday as I didn’t have the energy to cook. So...mostly junk food. (Bad mom, I know) The meds we got from Dr were all without codeine and paracetamol. Not even meds that you would use for the common cold. We also had asthma inhalers to assist with breathing.

My mom had Covid. She has COPD, high blood pressure, and diabetes so when she got her diagnosis I was terrified. She was diagnosed on a Wednesday with only a runny nose and mild wet cough. By Friday morning she went into acute respiratory failure and cardiac arrest. They told us she was not going to make it. Here we are, almost one month later and she’s in only 1 liter of oxygen, she’s eating, walking with help, and talking. Her voice is strong again. Just like before she got sick with Covid and she’s now testing negative and may be coming home this weekend ! GOD PULLED HER THROUGH THIS ! Don’t count yourself out…. Pray pray and pray

My God he has me bawling. I have had severe asthma my whole life, it is so bad that I am legally disabled from it. I have had numerous close calls where I still cannot believe that I made it. I understand the sheer terror of suffocating to death and being completely aware of what is happening the whole time. It cannot be properly explained to those who have not felt it, there simply are not words. I also understand the terror of Covid. I have been sick for a month now with it. It also caused me to develop pneumonia. When I first started feeling it I chalked it up to my annual fall chest infection that I get literally every single year around this time. As that progressed and my brother (we live together) started feeling unwell and tested positive for Covid, I knew. I was so scared. Too scared to even go to a doctor because I already knew and I genuinely fully expected to die. I do not know what miracle allowed me to pull through, but I am not the same.Dont get me wrong, I am grateful to be alive. But I am not well. Aside from the on-going physical symptoms, I am mentally and emotionally traumatized. I have had an extremely rough life, and I can honestly say that this virus was the worst thing that I have ever been through and I would not wish it on anybody.

@Carla Martiez That's right, I called upon God and His son Jesus and I was resuscitated in the ER Department, over a four hour span of time. I was told in ICU AND after that by the attending physicians, 3-6 times, that was clinically dead from two pulmonary emboli. That occurred on October 10, 2015. I'm feeling grateful and am a God fearing person, not terrified but in awe of HIM. That's what that means.

Hey. I lost my dad and the symptoms this man speaks of IS NOT BLASPHEMY !! He speaks the truth !!!! As unfortunate as the things he went through, “i know his pain” and i can die with those words in peace; my father didnt make it however, but he did 1 start with aches, 2 lethal fever and harsh cough, then couldnt breathe and eventually passed out. He was then sent off into an ER room where I COULDNT EVEN SEE HIM BEHIND A GLASS.
