Appreciate this video. Grew up there on Longfellow Ave during the 50s. You showed my school PS48.

@@mike47734 It is! Although my building has been replaced I see that some of the buildings I grew up with are still there! Google's Street View is amazing.

Back in the day, HBO would air "documentary-like" interviews of prostitutes, John's, pimps, and madames from the "tracks" of Hunts Point and nearby.

Yeah it's called Hookers of Hunts point or something. I was listening to my NEW YORK songs and thought about it.

This is high class compared to when I grew up there in the 80's and 90's. NYC during these decades average about 2000 murders per year. In 1990 they broke their record recaching 2156 homicides that year. Insane!

The opening shot shows P.S. 48 at the right. This is where Hunts Point Avenue crosses Faile Street. Thanks so much for this video

PS48 in the 90s was hell, use to toss chairs when I was a kid during 'Lights Out' hours

@@tv44-alternative23 Hi! Sounds awful! I was a student there much earlier and the kids were generally well behaved.

Damn, a lot if memories growing up there. Glad i got the hell out 😂. It was a zoo back in the 80's and 90's. Lots of murders, prostitution, crackheads lining up for drugs (we used to call it the cheese line). Cops used to throw junkies off of buildings in the 70's there. I used to see cops getting blow jobs from hookers and picking up money from the dealers. Crazy ass times.

Me from the UK some nice footage here of the Bronx. That place with all those small statues at 1.58 is that place. Also, did you drive past the Hip Hop Museum?
