The singers and bazouki player have played and sung with the Irish trad group, Danu. They have loads of music published since their inception in 1996(?). The song is called An Páistin Fionn, a love song from the Waterford Gaeltacth sung by a young man about the woman he loves, comparing her to a pint of Porter-clearly he was in love

The best of tradition modernised in a sensitive and melodious manner. ... lovely emphasis without ''hammer blows''..and so well performed...this music stands up anywhere , and not just as a remnant revival of the tradition.

Apart Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh who is certainly one of the finest trad vocalist worldwide it's nice to see Ciarán Ó Gealbháin again!

@saturne468 жыл бұрын

So difficult to keep up with The Great Irish Song Book? Just when you think you've heard all the good tunes, something else always comes along. Is aoibhinn liom é - go raibh maith agaibh.

Apart from the thousands of tunes and songs in existence people make up new ones all the time.

I am glad you observed the bouzouki. A Greek instrument that is ubiquitous in Irish traditional music these days. It was first brought into the Irish tradition by Donal Lunny when he was part of the then famous avant-garde 1970s quartet Planxty.
