FINALLY we're here! With Adrian returning, we now we have 3 lead guitarists and the 'human air raid siren' is also back with a vengeance. When you do check out the Rock in Rio live performances, the concert starts with this track and man, does it start with a bang. When referencing your liking to some of the tracks from the Blaze era of Maiden, I reckon you don't need to say that you 'might be talking shit' as you're not. It's your opinion and who gives a stuff about what other people may negatively think of it. It's YOUR channel man. I'm also stoked that you are also now delving into Judas Priests catalogue as you're discovering another one of the greatest metal vocalists of all time, Rob Halford 🤘😁.

My favorite reaction. Mr. Hurm, if you hadn’t have been so faithful to Maiden as you were, if you had just skipped over Blaze’s era, you wouldn’t have the perspective of the Iron Maiden fan that I know you truly are. Plus, you showed respect and courtesy to Blaze Bayley, who, by all accounts, is a nice chap who had an impossible job, but he put all of his heart and soul into Maiden, and that’s what Maiden DO. He’ll always be part of the Maiden family. And now that you DO possess that perspective, you get the rich reward of feeling the elation of seeing the return of the kings. To have Bruce and Adrian both back was my happiest moment as an Iron Maiden fan, and after all of these years, which seem to have flown by rapidly since they came back in ‘99, I still breathe a sigh of relief that Adrian came back with Bruce. Adrian‘s departure was devastating to the band’s chemistry and sound. My only regret in this era is that Kevin Shirley is producing and not Martin Birch. The production on this era of albums would’ve been so much better, and the albums markedly better than they already are. Up the Irons, baby.

Well, Bruce and Adrian are back. So what are you talking about Hurm? lol. Now you believe me as to why I skipped the Blaze era Maiden. This is a good song, not the best of the album, but still good. The 1973 British film The Wickerman, starring Christopher Lee and Edward Woodward, should be mentioned as the original source of inspiration for both the song and the video. This film was made in various versions and remains nowadays a cult film for the fans of the genre. The lyrics seem to highlight the general apathy of our modern society and our egoistic disinterest in what is happening in the world until something actually happens to us and we get "knocked to our feet". Watching "the world explode every single night" refers probably to those who watch the evening news and who have an overload of grisly images of wars and sufferings, and who become gradually de-sensitized and de-humanized. I know you'll do it, but don't forget Judgement Day.

welcome to the 3 guitar version of Iron Maiden, as well as Adrian back on guitar, he also returned on backing vocals, which makes a difference as the albums without him just have Steve Harris on backing vocals and with all due respect singing isn't his strong point. If you do Blaze then start with Ghost in the Machine from Silicon Messiah album. It is the first song on his first solo album. You will want to react to all of this album I'm sure ;) The Wicker Man is the second Maiden song I hear after TNotB. In 2001. Been a fan since. In 2008 metal festival they opened with this and it was awesome. It wasn't even certain they could play at all, there was a huge storm. The other main stage was destroyed and one person died. Warm-up bands didn't play, we had to wait extra time in uncertainty. Then hearing this...you just knew it would be an awesome show. Out of the Silent planet was the last song I listened before driving off to serve in the army so it has a special place in my heart. Dream of Mirrors is a song I was blasting and my brother asked what song is this!? He became a fan and we've seen 10+ Maiden shows together. Blood Brothers is amazing and very cool on shows with my brother and best friend. The Nomad is very cool song with nice groove and The Thin Line Between Love and Hate is just beautiful with terrific solos.

'The Wicker man' (based on the movie of the same name... recently re-made w/ Nicholas Cage) ...was Adrian Smith's contribution. He said in 1999, he & Bruce Dickinson got into talks about reuniting w/ Iron Maiden... Steve Harris was still hesitant; he reluctantly agreed to let Blaze Bayley go, but a reunion was a tough sell. The other issue was guitarist Janick Gers - he offered to leave if Adrian was coming back, but Harris said, 'No.' Then, they discussed making Iron Maiden a 3-guitar band like Lynyrd Skynyrd for the first time. According to Adrian, he showed up at a rehearsal and quickly realized that Dave Murray & Janick Gers were doing the dual-lead partnership, and he couldn't return to the same role he had done in Maiden... so he decided to take the middle and concentrate on the rhythms, which he was more comfortable with, filling the sounds between the 2 lead guitars... He was also surprised that he and Janick got along so well (Adrian and Dave had been friends since school and had played together in bands prior to Maiden)... At rehearsals, they asked around, "Anybody got any new tunes?" And Adrian said, "Well, I got this riff..." and played them what became 'The Wicker man'. The reaction to 'Brave new world' in 2000 was immediate... the album went up to #39 on the US charts and sold 300K copies... In comparison, the 'Virtual XI' album in 1998 w/ Blaze Bayley only reached #124 on the US charts and sold less than 100K copies. Blaze Bayley thanked Iron Maiden on his 2000 solo album 'Silicon Messiah'... his debut solo album was produced by Andy Sneap (who would go on to work w/ Megadeth, Judas Priest and other major metal bands) and Blaze wrote all the lyrics for that record. It was a good heavy metal album...much better suited for his vocal style, but sadly, it was not a commercial success.
