This winds at 14:30 is probably the strongest I’ve seen of Delta. Looks like 30 second sustained winds about 105-110 mph. Gusts definitely around the 130 mph range.
@tvold92043 жыл бұрын
no not that strong. 14:30 to me looks like a heavy rainband with 85-90 mph 30sec sustained and maybe gusts nearing 100.
@tnut33053 жыл бұрын
@@tvold9204 Gusts way over 100 and it’s quite obvious.
@tvold92043 жыл бұрын
@@tnut3305 just a strong rainband. If you imagine a car going 100MPH its faster of the same speed as the wind. Also, i think it was probably a cat 1 at landfall with strong rain.

As much as I'm interested in storms, weather, mother nature it's hard seeing the devastation it leaves in its wake. Seeing people with destroyed homes, loss of their precious memories is heart-wrenching. I pay for each of them. Stay safe during your travels and studies of these storms.

PLEASE!!!!! BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!!! It's my understanding that these storms produce tornados. And it looks [to my] as though you wouldn't be able to even see it coming. That thought is VERY SAD to my way of thinking. I HATE to know that ANYONE is hurt, injured or worse.

I'm trying to watch this event all the way through to the end. I'm NOT going to make it. But I wanted to ask, did y'all actually film and/or see any of those big trees get blown down? And, if you did, could you hear them falling? God bless and keep y'all safe.
4 жыл бұрын
@ Nathaniel Lollis- I live in Lafayette, LA which is about 70 miles east of there. I was outside experiencing the 90 mph gusts for the fun of it and I could hear HUGE cracks from the huge oak tree in my neighbors backyard before it finally fell. The cracks echoed in the air like a shotgun or rifle shot. The sound of it hitting hitting the house sounded...expensive. But those three cracks before it fell were quite remarkable! And as for the tornadoes that spin off during a hurricane, you can see them but you can hear them. A hurricane sings. It usually resonates one note depending on the structures the wind around you are blowing through. The tornadoes are usually short lived F1’s or maybe F-2’s that travel a couple of blocks and then go back up into the sky. Although you can’t see them, they sound like a small jet plane taking off low above your house. I guess you can tell that hurricanes fascinate me! I’ve experienced them since I was a little girl and still, at 57, I ride them out outside!!!

It's way past time for all the above ground wires to be placed in the ground. The community called The Villages in Central Florida has all their wiring Underground so when we have a hurricane come through these wires are unaffected and we still have contact. If you are in a state city, town, ranch, perhaps a tugboat😋 contact The Villages Florida 32162 I'm sure they'll connect you with the right people effects your hometown

We can't in Louisiana. Our water table is to high. Dig down 2 feet and you hit water. And this particular area is pretty much marsh land. Not to mention the least populated parish we have in this state. Nobody builds anything there to last. They know mother nature will eventually take it from them.
