3 hurricanes in 13 months. You gotta feel for these folks.

Agree but many seem to not build according to Hurricane norms

Even if they do. Homes are only sturdy up until 200km/h

Florida's building codes for wind and wind-borne debris are based on risk zones, and include the following requirements: Category I: Homes must withstand wind speeds of 156-165 mph Category II: Homes must withstand wind speeds of 170-175 mph Wind Zone 3: Basic wind speeds of 150-170 mph, or 140-170 mph within one mile of the coastline Wind Zone 4: Basic wind speeds greater than 170 mph @StephanieTanner-mh6ot

I can't believe you guys still have trees there. Michael took out about 90% in eastern Bay County.

Please use a point of reference when doing these videos. It would be nice to know what area of Perry you were in.

I saw images of cities along the coast of Florida on Twitter. The damage is unprecedented for that area. Some towns are completely destroyed.

Crazy stuff, I understand hurricane parties but if you’re in the cone you need to take these things seriously.

When I was a stupid kid, living in the Miami area, we did Hurricane parties. Adults should have more sense than that though. ☮️ ❤️ 🇺🇸

YES, like wearing a helmet and goggles when you get drunk and wander outside to see how strong the winds are!🌪

I dont think I would ever build in Florida for these reasons. Insurance has to be sky high and the wages are lower as well. UGH I feel so bad for these people

It's an invitation to do better when you think about it. I mean really, is there anything better in Florida than designing a hurricane-proof building? All year round, people go to work... and there's a 75% chance there will be a major hurricane! In that case, all of what they're doing could get wiped out. All the work they did won't matter. All the possessions they saved up and collected are susceptible. The winds will tear through, the waters will rise. The colleges should get together to design a hurricane-proof building once and for all. Instead, I think people these days only care about football games. (And that starts in high school by the way, with the ongoing rivalries.) Too much entertainment-based activity, and NOT enough responsible, forward-thinking formulating solutions to the issues we face in reality. The issues we continually face in reality, in Florida-- hurricanes. If the students could give up football for 1 year, they could replace it with a huge contest to build a hurricane-proof building. We don't do that though, due to humans being stuck in their traditions. They are a species more in-tune with impulsive emotions than with intelligent longevity. We hope the quality of students changes, however, we don't think it ever will as long as they consume alcohol. The consumption of alcohol is the primary agent of instability. Students act reckless, making bad decisions. Sometimes it's on the way home from the bar. Yet, that's just normal for America. Their traditions are keeping them stuck like a crutch, drinking at bars is the most popular activity for them on weekends. A lot of crime is associated.
