Interesting choice to have your newbies not wear any protective chaps / chainsaw pants. I hope your insurance is good.

Good observation. I joined a a group that volunteered for this. They were given basic training by their organization, provided protective equipment, and had to sign a waiver against liability. In that documentation, it was recommended to wear chaps, gloves, eye protection etc ….. Yes, some of the people were new or had minor experience with saws. They did very well with minor coaching and no injuries 😊. Finally, you’ll notice I didn’t have my leather gloves on towards the end. It was the last job of the weekend, my hands were tired from running the saws the entire weekend. Not making excuses, it was just the reality of job at that time. I did eventually put one of them back on though.
