Somewhere in some comments a lady pointed out that the hoses start to disintegrate sending small particulates into the Buddy Heaters and clogging them up. There is suppose to be some type of an inline filter you can use but few do until they "ruin" a Heater. I dont know if this filter screws into the hose and adaptor asseblies in some way or must be installed mid-hose. Its the first ild heard of it. Supposedly the Buddy Heaters can be fixed. The Buddy Heater its self must be "disassembled and cleaned out"; many people just go out and buy a new one. - Maybe among your friends, family, and corporate types you can come up with an honest to goodness repair manual? With the hundreds of potential Heater failures, maybe you can come up with a small engine repair person (whether they've ever worked in a small engine before or not) who can figure out maintenance and repairs on these Heaters; maybe even teach others. It could even be a young K-12 male or female type.

@Budf14 You might still figure out what it takes to "clean out and unplug" a Buddy Heater. 'Cause I can imagine that come spring there will be upto a collection that could be salvaged.

Is kerosene available? Many gas stations carry kerosene. Kerosene heaters do better in larger areas and it's easier to fill a jug than having to deal with tanks. There are less working parts on a kerosene heater so less likely to break. The fuel can also be used in lamps and lamps put off heat also. I got a kerosene heater for emergencies myself. Home Depot carries them.

I have one and it amazing the heat that it puts out, it heats my whole house, but it is a bit of pain to refill and kerosene is very expensive where I live. You are still dealing w/heavy jugs to carry and haul w/out the heater lasting for long periods of time before it needs to be refilled. I wish there were better answers, but for those that can get to the kerosene and can afford the cost it is a great source of heat.

Ruby, some gas stations carry kerosene. Bring your own can. It's half the price of box stores.

@@mzritamarie4357 I get mine from a gas station, it is still crazy expensive and not being young and strong the containers are heavy. I wouldn't want to be hauling up to the hills and having to carry the cans for any distance. Back of the car to the porch is tedious enough, but that is just me. Once all the work is done, the heat is awesome.

Matthew 6:19-21 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

These big propane companies ought to step up to the plate and donate and help these people out it's a tax write-off for them but they're too greedy

Large kerosene heater is 23,800 btu $150 vs. Large Buddy 18,000 btu for $110 (price is approx.) This is Home Depot vs Amazon. When the Buddy heaters break, replace with kerosene heaters. Put out the call and I am sure you will receive them.

Yes..this flood of heaters creates a nightmare to keep going. PLEASE find folks who each take on one of the sites for you. It’s too frequent a need on propane and too many places for one person. Disaster burnout is real. And winter has just started!!!

We lift you and all the workers doing the good works up to the LORD. "Gal 6:9-10 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."

Brother Bud, please find a way to take care of yourself. Have you thought of reaching out to Samaritan’s Purse for assistance? They have a huge number of volunteers. Remember, the Lord sees you and will never forsake you. He will make a way.

As far as propane refill goes, it would be better and more efficient if "somebody" could get a 500 or 1000 gallon propane tank at one of the supply points and have a company dump the big load into the tank and have qualified persons refill at supply location instead of having to get empy cylinders TO the source and having to bring them BACK filled. Just the fuel cost alone to transport is worth thinking about it. Just a thought and trying to help your logistics. Praying for all involved. Stay safe and stay healthy!
