As someone that just loves Matlacha and Pine Island I thank you for the time spent taking this video. Like you we've eaten and shopped in Matlacha and loved visiting. We stayed in Pine Island (backed onto the golf course). I actually feel pain when I see the destruction. The restaurant and marina in Cape Coral had the best food and views. Just loved the Nathans Hot Dog there. Thanks. Dave

Thank you for watching. It’s quite shocking to see in person. But they are moving quickly to get back to normal. They had the road and bridges reopened very quickly.

Those are the lucky ones that have RVs to be able to go to. So much distruction. The boats most of them looked fixable. Didn't see big holes. Granted if they are insured, will probably be totalled. We need to stop being a throw away society. Fix what we have. One piece at a time. Thanks for the update

I own a second home in Bonita Springs. We are near I-75 and elevated. The fact it was built in 2016, they did a good job on the elevation. No damage but a few bent Palm Trees. I don't think Insurance companies or the State should/would rebuild in these low areas..

I was wondering about that too. Been there many of times our boat and put plenty of dollar bills on the walls of the restaurant. I can't imagine it faired very well. The first recorded landfall of Ian was in Cayo Costa which is basically right next to Cabage Key

Bravo! Very well presented in a quite objective manner! I would say you should be reporters, but they tend to be overly dramatic and a bit much. If only there were some sort of equipment that could have guided the boats to proper areas as the water subsided.

Very glad to see this video. We weren't able to visit Matlacha very often, but we loved staying there. As you almost to the Drawbridge the Huge Red Roof Building that you shown the before photo is where we rented our little cabin from. Our was on the other side of Bert's Bar. Literally across the street. We had a great location there. A beautiful cottage, water out the back sliding doors, Bert's across the street. Great food and fun. A seafood shop a couple of doors down. So many joys. So many memories. Thank you for your time.

Bert’s and the small motel are next to the bridge. The area you first pointed out as Bert’s, was not the actual location. It and motel were across from the gift shop. A pedestrian crossing marks the location.

I don't understand if you can't go in...how can you find your lost boat?
@KNRAdventures1
@KNRAdventures1 Жыл бұрын
Good question. I am assuming they are copying down registration numbers from the boats hull and keeping a record and perhaps the Police are running the registration for the registered owners and notifying them. That’s my guess.

Well it's informative to the rest of us who can learn from the mistakes of those who thought this could never happen to them! Also this is history which can be used by other people to see what happened in years to come. So I say thank you to the guys who made the video, we are all in sympathy with those who have lost their homes, and we all hope they can eventually get back to a good life. Wanting to understand what happened to others is a normal human reaction!
