Dusty, you are one of those people that speak with their eyes. At the 6 minute mark I could see the stress and worry. Brought tears to my eyes. We could feel it without words. You did so good keeping your family safe. Your family will be so proud of you when they watch this. My heart goes out to all of Florida.

So grateful you and your family are safe! We stayed put in Bradenton and were fortunate to be on the weak side of the storm. We sustained some tree damage but no structural damage. Our power was off for a week and we also had to discard everything from our freezer and refrigerator. But we're safe. God sustained us. We are lifelong Floridians. We knew what to expect. Now to help our neighbors. That's what we do here in Florida.

I just moved to Fort Myers the end of July. This was so scary. I’m glad you are safe. We are safe too. Lots of repairs, but we both can still live in our homes. I was like you, Dusty, mad, sad, and frustrated. Then I saw that others lost everything. Thank you for your channel. I enjoy it very much.

Thanks for sharing your experience! We're over an hour north of you, where the storm was originally expected to make landfall. My parents live near the water barely above sea level. I'm a half mile inland, very safe at 35 ft above sea level. I remember the days leading up wondering "what will remain after the storm hits?" I could feel it in every person, could see it on their faces and in their eyes. When the storm made landfall much further south I remember thinking those people weren't expecting it and hoping they all got out. Thank God for any of us who still have our homes and hope that those who lost will have what they need to make it through.

I'm so glad you are all safe and that your home was not permanently damaged. I've been through quite a few hurricanes in Melbourne, FL. Every time, it's a process of waiting, watching and wondering what to do? How much to prepare? Do we evacuate? Put up the shutters or not? And the list goes on and on. You made the right choice for your family -- even if the storm had passed your neighborhood by completely, it was wise of you to evacuate for your mental health! Some storms you can ride out safely in your home. But, in this case, with a Category 4/5 storm heading your way, you guys made the right decision to leave. Next time, just leave the pool cover in the garage, Dusty. That was one preparation step that I right away knew was not going to work out for the best.

Very thankful you are safe. I am a native Floridian I grew up in Naples Florida. I now live on east coast. Most of my family is still in Naples, Sarasota and Pine Island area. Dusty I am glad you shared your feelings and not try to hide them. It will be hard for me to tell you of all the events my family have experienced in the past few days, but I will try to condense one event. My sister in law and her husband built their last home on Pine Island it was up for sale for 1.8 million when the storm hit. They are NOT rich they are in their seventies and built and sold homes the first 50 yes of marriage. In fact she became a licensed contractor for the state of Florida. My brother in law built that home strong and secure however facing a hurricane full on some damage was unavoidable. But let me tell you she is a woman of faith. On Sunday morning the church she attends had services in the churches parking lot. Communication is in and out but I was able to speak to her yesterday they have been cleaning and tearing out the damaged drywall since the storm past. Yes they stayed. People of Florida are STRONG and determined people and so are you guys. Storms like this does not come thru like this every year. When I was 5yrs old Donna hit Naples and actually lifted our home off the foundation and moved it to the lot next door. Mom said it was amazing....no damage at all to the house. They were able to have the home moved back to the original foundation and reconnect the plumbing and septic. Stay strong, trust God, things like this is just part of life I know easy said. Allow God to use your feelings to become wiser and stronger. You both have a mission and purpose. I'm glad you picked my state to live in.

She's so awesome though, pregnant with number 5, all the rest are 7 and under, her hubby is always working so she's alone often. Praise the Lord your all safe and your home. I wanted to cry watching this, I live in Queensland Australia and we get cyclones further north here each year. This year we had terrible rain that didn't stop for a month, with horrendous flooding, the levels not seen ever in many areas, it only happened 10 years ago and they said that was unprecedented so to have it again was devastating seeing so many homes lost. It's the worst feeling the waiting out to see what happens not knowing if your friends homes and businesses were going to be saved. The worst was further south where small towns become completely cut off for weeks, the stories of people trapped on roofs for days with kids, was incomprehendable, and in some areas the rain came back and flooded all over again. Dusty I agree with your conversation in your update video, it's times like these that the lord allows to help bring humanity closer, a chance to remember what's most important away from our possessions, to love thy neighbour for sure. Praying for all of your area.

Also wanted to thank you. The Spirit spoke to me in this... A lot of overwhelm unrelated to the storm (although I'm also in FL and dealt with this, with you).. But while the footage of Dusty fixing that big palm was playing, He said "one tree at a time". Just sharing. It's literally already what you're doing because you're the image of the Word God spoke to me. My sister's house in North Port, FL got seriously damage from hurricane Ian. Flooding all the way up to their countertops in throughout the Whole house. It was their first house they ever bought only a year and a half ago. They are still working on the repairs.. having to live with our parents cause they had to take all the dry wall out and redo the floors... also didn't have flood insurance!! So stressful! I don't live in Florida anymore but a few years ago my husband , son and I evacuated from hurricane Irma.. what a crazy stressful experience but our house was ok when we got back!

Holy heck y'all!! You moved right to the spot it hit!!! I have lived in FL for 30 years. I've been thru many hurricanes and only had to deal with power losses. They totally stink, but I'd rather be blessed with no power, but know my home is ok. My parents bought 10 acres an hour north of Tampa. The property is about 10 miles in from the Gulf and has never had severe damage, praise God 🙏 My mom will lose power, but that's fixable. I live in southeast FL now by Boca, and we have been spared in every hurricane since Irma in 2016 when we lost power for a week. I would always tell people that if you lived more inland in FL you don't have anything to worry about. This hurricane proved that theory wrong. I have never seen so much damage across the state in any other hurricane ever. Usually just one area gets really walluped, but not this time 😢 The death toll is heartbreaking and the pictures are unbelievable. I remember driving thru Homestead in 92' after Hurricane Andrew hit. That was such a eye opening lesson for me as a 12 y/o. I learned early that everything could be taken away by these storms. We live in such a great place, with many great people. We can rebuild our properties as many times as we want. We can't replace lives though and I hope people really take that to heart and leave these evacuation zones when they are in the path if they have a warning. Unfortunately mother nature doesn't always leave a detailed plan of future events... Thanks for donating to the survivors 🙏💞😊 God bless FL, the victims in Puerto Rico, and the other states affected by any natural disaster 😢💖🌅

Finally came back home yesterday after Hurricane Ian. We had decided to stay home to ride out the storm, but got a automated phone call (thank the Lord for answering prayers and my landline phone) on Wednesday morning @ around 11 a.m. warning us to leave my area because of catastrophic flooding! Grab my documents and some clothing and hightailed it out of there to my parents home in time to hunker down and wait for it to hit us! That storm was no joke, for it pounded my parents home for 7 to 8 hrs straight. We've never experienced anything like this. So traumatizing and devastating. My home and my parents faired well with some minor damage to our roofs, but I hurt for those who've lost everything!😢😢🙏
