I really love when people post the full raw footage of their storm chases. Makes the videos long and gives the effect of experience the storm through a screen.

I know this is a stupid question but this old granny has never left Utah. When this happens does sea life end up where it should t be? Like in the streets? Sharks, dolphins ect....it amazes me that the palm trees can really handle the storm. Strong trees.
@BadWeatherfreak2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it does end up in places where it shouldn't be. There are videos of fish and even a shark on residential streets that were flooded.

Here in Australia after big flooding, it's very common to see bull sharks swimming around streets, ponds, fields even once in a shopping centre carpark. They're usually juveniles 2-3feet and they get stuck on the wrong side of a fence, drain or landlocked after the floodwater has dropped.

Yeah it’s seems as though palm trees were made to withstand the storms/winds bc of their flexibility. Regular trees are hard for on the inside so they snap.

Hi, Chris. For the most part, I let the ads play, because I know they support you. One question. Were you near a generator while recording this? I only ask, because I'm totally blind, and I was hoping to hear the sound of the hurricane without the distraction of that motor so close to you. Otherwise, I'm still listening. I'd really like to know what type of vehicle you were in later on during the video when you were filming with the GoPro camera? It sounded almost like a bus or Diesel truck. I think it was somewhere at the 1 hour 46 minute point, but I don't know when that starts, because I missed some of it. Anyway, excellent audio quality when you're using the other camera (not the GoPro), and I'm sure you know that it doesn't have good audio quality anyway. Keep up the great work! Update. When I said I wanted to hear the sound of the hurricane, I meant without the microphone getting constantly hit by those winds. I guess you couldn't find a parking garage safe enough to get into and hunker down in there.

The reverse surge is absolutely CRAZY!! What happened in Tampa Bay also blew my mind.

I was there when this was going on. My first hurricane, alone. It took awhile to get full force winds, I believe up to 131mph. Crazy. Power went out about 15mins. after it started raining. I had candles and ice but, the ice didn't last too long. LOL. Raining so hard that it looked like someone was holding a garden hose up to the windows. Could not see anything. It lasted about 90 minutes. No AC, no nothing. Had my phone charged but had to save the juice for emergencies. Luckily, I hopped on a plane two days after. No gas any where. The had bobcats inside of Walmart and Publix shoveling all of the frozen food, chilled beer, produce, meats, deli, cheeses everything, because it was going bad. They didn't get electric on for 2 weeks. Remember, no AC in Fort Myers. Eventually, from showering the hot water was running very low. Used candles for light. No make-up, no fixing your hair, no NOTHING!! So happy to get home. Every gas station had at least a mile long line because the gas trucks could finally get in. It sucked majorly. Sorry, Florida, I would never live there for the fact of the aftermath. Even if you had a huge generator, better hope it lasted at least 14 days.

I do have one more question. What was the lowest pressure during this hurricane, and could you please translate that into numbers like 27.10? I only use that one, because that was the lowest barometric pressure I encountered on March 13, 1993 during that blizzard that hit us here in Georgia. At 6:02 PM the evening before, it was at 30.02. What a drop! I'll never forget it! At 6:30 AM the next morning, it registered 27.10.

Hurricane Michael in mid October 2018. Catastrophic failure of the hotel portico entrance. Everyone hopelessly watched their cars get crushed as they got buried in debris.

@@SkyChaserCom That had to suck but imagine your whole house going out that way with you inside of it. You just have to feel bad for the people that were in the path of that devastating storm, namely Panama City to Mexico City Beach to maybe Marianna FL?
@Vector_Ze2 жыл бұрын
@@tvold9204 The name is Mexico Beach (drop the city). But, I understand how that's spread since Mexico City Beach was referred to on occasion in the media coverage. Panama City was hard hit, but not the hardest. Smaller satellite cities like Springfield, Callaway, and Parker were hit harder. And of course, Tyndall AFB and Mexico Beach. I was located less than 2 miles (as the crow flies) southeast of the hotel mentioned, above. The storm retained hurricane strength beyond the state line. In southwest Georgia, wind gusts as high as 115 mph were recorded in Donaldsonville. So far as storm chasers having their vehicles damaged; well, they deliberately drove into a hurricane strike zone. So....
@tvold92042 жыл бұрын
@@Vector_Ze It was a misspelling, but everything you said is true and very good. I probably got confused with Panama City Beach and Mexico Beach and mixed the names. Also your video was very good! How are you guys doing now?

After the devastation of Ian, less conversations and better actions are going to have to happen when it comes to living and rebuilding on the islands. It’s just not worth the cost of lives or construction. These storms are getting worse and stronger and common sense is going to have to prevail.

Very thankful of your camera footage but you must have Eaton some Lucky Charms that morning. Cuz whether you know it or not what you did was extremely dangerous walking out into the ocean while the water had receded. That water could have snapped back at any moment it does not work the same Principle as tide when it comes to outflow of t i d a l surge. And when it flows back it comes in rushing like a tidal wave. With under currents that take you out. However I seriously must compliment you on some wonderful fantastic bravery film footage that you took.
