Hurricane Milton forecast, 5 a.m. on Oct. 9, 2024

St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee counties are under a hurricane warning Wednesday as a major Category 5 Hurricane Milton churns toward Florida, where it's expected to make landfall along the west coast overnight Thursday. Martin County is under a hurricane watch, while Palm Beach County remains under a tropical storm warning. According to the 5 a.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center, a "catastrophic" Milton has maximum sustained winds of 160 mph and is moving east-northeast at 14 mph. It's forecast to make landfall on the Gulf coast of Florida overnight Thursday as a "dangerous major hurricane," the NHC said.

I'm from Yucatan and I have to say we were lucky because we didn't have a direct impact but I pray for the people in Florida that that will live that. If you can still evacuate get out. The rain is still here (not all the time) we are still dealing with the weird weather so it is not a normal hurricane.

This might sound silly but I swear I’m serious about this. I live in Orlando and I’ve seen dozens of weather reports on Milton and I believe the stations are missing some opportunities. The hurricane tracks are for the eye, but the eye itself is calm. I know the winds around the eye are the worst so that’s where the opportunities come in. Add some graphics of tornadoes 🌪️ and flying monkeys 🐒 circling across the projected track so the audience really sees where the winds reach out from the calm eye. Even put a picnic basket where the eye is so the audience knows that’s where it will be clear. A path that’s 100 miles wide in red that’s tracking the eye when part of that eye has no wind or rain tells the audience nothing.

Frankly all meteorologists are smart. They don't have "weather girls" anymore, who read someone else's work. These women went to school for and have a degree in this.This is a cat 4 storm. They don't need to create drama. The storm is severe and will be deadly. It's not like when they stand out in snow in other states and there is hardly any snow, so they make it sound like there is a foot of snow. This is serious.
