Simpson screws are probably better, stronger hold and less work. My opinion, if you can afford the screws, use them instead of nails. For those interested, this is a quote from Simpson about their screw: Specifically designed to replace nails in certain Simpson Strong-Tie connectors and is the only screw approved for that application. The #9 and #10 SD screws replace 10d and 16d nails, respectively. The single-fastener load capacity of the SD9 exceeds the capacity of a 10d common nail, while the single-fastener load capacity of the SD10 exceeds that of the 16d common nail.

Here on the coast, those are code, can’t build without them, and even if I could, I wouldn’t. Great information Kevin. Be well my friend.

Hatch, i wouldn't want to build without them either , even though we don't get crazy winds here you never know, thanks for watching.

I did lol don't want it blowing off.

I installed mine just like you did. Then I saw a line on each one for top plate so there's no obstruction on the wall if drywall or other paneling is attached. You just have to raise them up to the line.

Can you tell me if these are the Simpson H2.5A straps? Simpson make a number of them, depending oh the gauge of metal I think. Thanks

I'm Sorry I don't know but thank you so much for the comment.

Simpson dictates to add hurricane straps to the exterior of the building, will not warranty when installed on the interior alone. You can double them up however one on the inside and one on the opposite side exterior.

What do you do when installing ceiling and it hits the metal part that sticks out?
@Robinson-Homestead2 жыл бұрын
Good question i don't know i never used them where i needed a ceiling. i will have to research it. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year.

I’m wondering why you have ignored the plate line marking on the bracket. Isn’t it to be on top of the Plate???

On the bracket it says to uses on both sides. I guess they want us to buy more of them brackets and nails.

Thanks for the information on the straps, i didn't know that or i would have added more of them i guess it's better than having my roof fly off in a big storm.
