Loving the videos! Are you going to do a cost/profit breakdown on the stockers like you have in years past?

Yes, and I need to go ahead and get that one done. Been planning on it, but just haven’t gotten around to it.

@@HurricaneCreekFarms awesome! Thank you also for touching on the bulls vs steers and why y’all buy how y’all do in the episode of talk dirt. I didn’t miss it. I usually listen to it on my way to work and just never got a chance to thank you for touching on it.

She’s such a good cow in some ways, but then she can be so mischievous. Sounds a lot like my kids!

How would one find and order buyer to purchase cattle? Do you use an individual person? Or a business?
@HurricaneCreekFarms2 жыл бұрын
We have used individuals that we know, but lately we have used someone that works with the particular sale barn. Sometimes that’s tricky because they are trying to work for both the buyer and the seller, but we’ve developed enough of a relationship that we trust them.

Is the lump jaw hereditary ? Will you keep any heifers out of the new bunch of cows you just added this year ?
@HurricaneCreekFarms2 жыл бұрын
No, it’s a bacterial infection. I’m keeping pretty much everything that was bred back. That does include both some cows and heifers from the new herd.

Are you weaning those calves because you plan on keeping them or do you wean them for a period of time and then take them to the sale barn
@HurricaneCreekFarms2 жыл бұрын
We’ll keep these until at least spring. Heifers that have replacement potential will stay until they are old enough to breed. Steers will likely run with our stockers next summer. Blacks will be sold with the stockers and Brahman crosses will probably be fed out for freezer beef.

Have you bought any feed from FBN. I am starting to see you tubers promoting FBN. Supposed to be cheap and you can get whatever you want.

I haven’t, but I’ll have to check them out. I’m familiar with them being on the row crop side of things, but I didn’t realize they were in the feed business now.
