@@paulinadeboer3604 I'd bet you're right. OP couldn't possibly allow them to have intimite time, so she just *had* to make sure that it came to an abrupt--and awkward--halt. It's highly unlikely that OP couldn't hear any sounds of voices or movement before walking into the room. Plus, she made sure stay in the room until the moment had passed, instead of apologizing and immediately backing out. First, she stood there staring for long enough that big sis' yelled at her to get out, then, by grabbing the hair dryer. Isn't it funny how she so desperately needed the hair dryer that *very instant,* but was hanging out in the kitchen five minutes later, instead of immediately using said hair dryer? We're going to be getting a future post from OP's sister, saying that she had to kick her little sister out. It'll either be because her husband finally admitted that he's been uncomfortable with little sis' perving on him, or older sis' will be distraught to find out her sister and her husband have been having an affair. Hopefully she cuts off those futures by kicking little sis' out right now. Otherwise, this behavior will only keep escalating.

@@heatherduke5410 my oldest is 26 and youngest is 10, we have 5 children in total, all know and we’re told from very early on that you always knock before entering anyone’s room. I do the same and always knock before entering their room as well. When they’re little I let them know all ages deserve privacy. When asked later we talk about how it can be traumatic for all parties if you walk in on any intimate situation. That talk usually happens when they start having questions like “where do babies come from/how are babies made” or anything to do with sex. I don’t believe in lying to children about things like that. If they’re old enough to have the interest to ask they’re old enough to get a correct answer. If you don’t tell them then they will find out from someone else and either get told wrong info or not trust you because you lied. Sex isn’t anything to be ashamed about, nor is self pleasure. Back to topic, both can be made uncomfortable if they unceremoniously interrupted! If the older sister knows this than there isn’t an excuse for the younger sister to ask so ignorant. I don’t accept this behavior from my 10 yr old, I would never accept it from an adult!

I lived in the same city as my ex in-laws and they wouldn't drive across town to see their first grandchild. We always had to go there. They never bought her anything, never played with her and my ex FIL actually said (when I asked if he wanted to hold his 1st, brand new grandchild) "I don't touch children until they can come to me". I tried to be patient, but by the time she was two years old, we completely cut them off. There are people who just don't deserve to be around children. Also, in the time I knew them I realized they were racist and I won't have anything to do with racists and did not want that type of thinking around my child. Interesting, how OP describes how the in-laws parented their own children is exactly how my ex in-laws parented theirs.

Yeah, the reason (being racist) was important. But so was how her husband was raised/abused. BOTH are incredibly valid reasons to blow them off, and I wouldn't cross the street to take my precious child to see such people. Especially since I'd have to do all the work to give them the chance to abuse and hate my child, in whatever manner they would find to do so. And they would. Perhaps even special ways to get further digs into OP and her husband through their child, whom the OP's in laws would want to take from them for YEARS being the only reason they'd take part in the child's life. I remember the feeling of dismay when the lady at the corner shop told me my mam hadn't given me quite enough money for what she'd asked me to get, and the disappointment when I thought I had enough pocket money for my sweets and I didn't. So as an adult I looooove being able to lean over and ask "How much are they missing?" so I can save the day ;-)

That sister is so clueless. Claire did NOT over react. Just because you think you need something that you don't own, doesn't mean you have the right to barge in to someone's bedroom whenever you want. I'd be kicking someone out for that. Don't stomp on my boundaries. OP obviously hasn't fed teenagers. The food bill alone can break you. But to tell OP that the reason why he needs that money is none of OP's business is large red flag. I think he's got a gambling problem.

Story 2- YTA. You’re living in someone else’s house rent free the least you can do is knock before you enter the room unless it’s a emergency. And to clarify emergency doesn’t mean you need a damn hairdryer it means someone is seriously hurt, dying, or something is on fire.

FYI - Freddo Frog is a Cadbury brand chocolate frog. A nice little single-serve item. These days I would personally expect them to cost somewhere in the $1:50-$2:00 range (Aussie dollars). Personally I go for the value of buying chocolate in blocks of 170g-200g, which average in the $5-$6 range, but picking supermarket specials can land two blocks for $7-$8.

1: Just from the initial post, I'm saying NTA. The in-laws can't be bothered to go to the grandkid but have offered to take him for a few *years?* *HELL NO.* They want OP to do all the legwork of going to them so they can grab the kid and kick OP out. Calling it now. Why the hell did OP marry into a family like this? Before deciding to marry someone, *always* look at the prospective in-laws. Do they like you? Do you like them? If the answer to either of those is "No," ask yourself if your prospective spouse has a relationship with them. Is the prospective spouse willing to cut or reduce contact *before* marriage? If the prospective spouse *does* have a relationship and is *not* willing to cut or reduce contact, *DO NOT MARRY.* Comments: Racism. And the kid is the right gender and skin tone. Yep. There's a kidnapping in the works, I can feel it. OP says her husband did "a lot," but it sounds like they didn't talk about what would happen when they had kids *at all.* OP was also naive to think that simply acknowledging her existence as wife would be enough. Update: Oh! And these *marvelous* examples of humanity were *abusive* to OP's husband and are currently playing golden child and scapegoat with the grandkids they *do* have access to! OP's husband *wants* to throw his son into that hornet's nest? *HELL. NO!* They don't even send him *birthday presents* while he spends loads on their holidays and birthdays! He's still in the FOG. 2: Saw this one on another channel. *WOW.* I've got ADHD and Asperger's, so have problems with boundaries, and *I* know better to barge into a couple's room. Especially at *night!* Have a bit of trouble remembering that open door doesn't always mean welcome, but *STILL!* 3: Hey, want to know why the divorce rate is so high? It's not because of first time marriages, those actually have pretty good odds. It's because once you've already divorced, your chances of divorcing again *skyrocket* if you remarry. OP *willingly* married a two-time divorcee with *six kids.* Oh, *AND* he's constantly broke from crazy spending. "Clueless" doesn't *begin* to cover it.

Last story: Aaaaahhh, the rent game stores... I actually have a good story about one: My city was very small, and had only one store, so, everyone rented games from there. The first save was for the entire city, and with every game, came a little note saying: "The first save represents the efforts of an entire city. Please, don't erase it". Everyone contributed, so, all gamers could see the end of the games eventually. The first time I completed 100% in a game (Mario 64) it was on the city's save, and it warmed my heart for years the fact a lot of people could watch the end of that infinite game because of me. A decade or so later, the store closed its doors, and I bought a lot of games from there (Mario 64 included, and they never erased my 100%, yay!), and even after so many years, I still never erased these first saves from these games. A lot of people who contributed with these progresses already passed away (my grandma, for example, I still have her records on a lot of my games, and it never fails to tear me up when I watch her avatar replaying her moves right beside mine), so, it's a good way in my heart to honor all of them.

I miss video game rental shops. There was one in my neighborhood and my family and I were frequent customers. I'd always get one game and a movie or two games or two movies. It was how I tried a game out before putting it on my wishlist. Now it'd one of four or five autoparts stores in my area, something we painfully do not need.

Mark, can I have a word please? Firstly, I’d like to say that I love your Waffly narrations, your play out song with the smelly bacon (yum, yum yuuum), your witty asides (you cheeky thing you), the good, honest swearing, instead of ‘frick’, ‘fudging’, ‘witch’, and the absolute worst ‘beeuur’ (looking at YOU Markee!). I love your references to things from your youth and childhood that I (as a fellow Brit) can relate to, and I love that, in contrast to 90% of the other Reddit story narrators, your voice is interesting to listen to, your diction is great, and your command of the English language is good enough not to require you being exiled to an uninhabited island in the Arctic Circle (to where I would gladly banish certain fellow narrators for their terrible reading skills and constant grammar fuck-ups) BUT. I cannot ignore the fact that you persist (ironically) in mispronouncing the word ‘pronunciation’! It’s like a fingernail on a blackboard to me. So, repeat after me….Pruh-nun-see-ayshun….. there’s no ‘O’ in that second syllable. Sorry, had to get that off my chest, carry on waffle boy!

Story 3: Not only is OP NTA for wanting a contract, but I'd go farther and say that OP would be a fool to give hubby the money. To me, it sounds like her husband either has a gambling or drug addiction, because I can't see how any child expense would require him to borrow 4k from her brother, and then abruptly 14k more from OP within a couple weeks. So, unless one of his kids is in the hospital, yeah.... drugs or gambling.

1: If hubby goes to visit with kiddo, the kid won't come back. His family is trying to get them there, so bet there is a law taking her rights to her child away so that she has no power. They want to raise him as hubby's replacement child. Any meeting with them will include abusive speech and actions toward OP and child, especially if any characteristic matches mommy. Hubby wants to buy his family's affection with a kid and hasn't come to terms with they will never care about him the way he wants. 2: OP needs to find time to buy her own crap and get her own home. It would take less time than daily asking to borrow things one should not share. 3: When moneyis being loaned, why is a valid question. Finances are split for a reason. He can't be responsible with money, and he's trying to undo the split to put them both under.

If it's either of those, then she's pathetic in the right but wanting her kid around then. I rented a room from a guy once, and he started going into my room and using my things, sometimes even removing them from my room. At NO point did he even ask to use them first if I wasn't home. He'd just use them and expect I'd just be okay with that. There was a latch I could put a lock on the room... on the outside. And with my cats, I needed to keep the door open, as the only AC was in the main room, and the litterbox was in my room. The first few times, I wasn't sure. Finally I came back and found he'd "borrowed" my lighter I use for burning incense, to light his weed. If he'd put it back, I would have taken longer to realize what he was doing. As it was, I had to search his room for it, and managed to find it without touching anything of his. I didn't like doing that. Finally bought a length of fine chain and a lock, wound the chain up in a way that left my cats enough slack to come and go as they wished, and he couldn't. Until I found this, I started taking a few moment's video of my room before leaving, and comparing that to how things were upon my return. There were always small changes. On a room I was renting from him. And asked him to not enter in my absence. OP is very rude, entering her sister's room as she does. She'd better get her head on straight before she has to find a place of her own to rent.

Story 1 sounds all too familiar. It took nearly two decades for hubs to be ready to go no contact. It was terrible to watch his parents emotionally ab_se him, knowing that he couldn't see how bad it was and, therefore, wouldn't/couldn't set boundaries to protect himself. I truly wish that OP didn't have to go through the pain of watching the in-laws tear her husband apart with their demands and their guilt trips. Hopefully, having support from the online community will give her more effective tools to help her deal with both in-laws and husband during future conflicts. 💙

Honestly with story 2, OP needs to ask her sister for the items and wait until she gets them for her, or there is a time period in the day she could go into the room. If she goes into the room without permission, borrows items that she didn’t get permission to borrow, or she goes into the room in the times she shouldn’t, there should be a strike system where if OP gets 3 strikes she is no longer borrowing the items, Or best bet, get a lock and key for the door

Story 2 OP is utterly clueless. Wasn't she taught manners when she was a child? She is 23 and still thinks she can just barge into her sister's bedroom at anytime? She is rude and entitled. Story 2: firstly you should ALWAYS ask to borrow something that doesn't belong to you. Secondly, was OP dropped on her head as a child? Who tf just barges into someone's bedroom at 10pm, let alone the bedroom of a married couple! Thirdly, if you can't afford you're current skin care get cheaper stuff & budget better, which shouldn't be an issue when you don't have to pay rent. If I was OPs sister the first time she burrowed something without asking she'd get asked not to do it again, the second she'd be told if she does it again she's out & third time she is out. I wouldn't put up with anyone coming into my bedroom without knocking no matter my relationship status, that's a private space.
