Husband of woman killed on Southwest flight speaks out

Michael Riordan says he is "still in denial" about the death of his wife, Jennifer Riordan, and tells ABC News how he told the couple's two children. His world changed when he learned Jennifer had been killed on Southwest Flight 1380 after an engine failed 32,000 feet above the ground on April 17.

This could have been avoided if Southwest Airlines had done their job. They were well aware of faulty fan blades on their engines on this particular aircraft but did nothing to correct the problem. This ultrasonic testing only would have cost Southwest $170.00 per engine. Classic example of what happens when you put profits over people!

I've been in a similar situation. A, if there's a cautionary tale, you should report it. In our case, a bipolar cousin died recklessly driving (sober, too). B, people who are ignorant will flap their faces. This might shut them up. C, if he has kids, he could use a few bucks. D, if people KNEW the airline KNEW this blade was about to crack, but "determined we have some time" (Chicago Tribune, 11-15-18), HOPEFULLY, they'll squeeze them to SPEND. SOME. MONEY. If it were a CAR, I'd have had it fixed IMMEDIATELY. And YES, they should get sued! What else is wrong that they KNOW ABOUT and said nothing to her/the passengers?? There's been SEVERAL TIMES a tiny crack gave and killed a lot of people. Please see Engineering Disasters on History channel. An engineer would say it "has no redundancy:" if it fails in that spot, the whole thing will go. For a tiny crack. Maybe saying something will get passengers to SQUEEZE Southwest, who actually had ANOTHER one of these they chose to spend no $$$ on??? It's not "unexpected," (direct quote) if Christopher Spinney of the FAA says they knew it was dangerous but thought they had some time (?!??!).

My condolances to the family but lets do some math... He said 29 years of being a soulmate he wouldent lie why would he? But that puts the date to april 1989. Making him 12 years old and her 14. Thats against the law. Statory rape the list can go on. On another prespective a kid thats 12 goes to the level of sould mate if theres a sexual encounter teachers do this all the time with students and the student only reacts with those titles of efacuation if it gets that far. Another story puts her at 17 and him at 15. Still against the law but at this point its def moved on to sexual encounters. Both are growing up at this point. Something majorly happened at this point for him to mark this time in his life like lets say losing virginity. If it didnt happen years before. So for it to be legal and not breaking the law she would have to be 20 and him 18 just to make sure nothing happened before that time. As the law states. The kids didn't get born till years way after. But this troubles me it was right in front of the reporter. And she missed it. Shes dead now not to tarnish her memory but id say he should have said 24 years just to be safe. He told the truth 29 years which no playing in the sand can make soul mates something had to happen more for him to mark it. Something very special. I guess.
