That cottonwood was so soggy and wet, all the problems I had with getting stuck in the cut have not happened on any other trees since I have had the saw. Sorry if this misrepresents it, I highly recommend the saw and have had no problems with it.

A full skip chain on that 5 foot bar would have helped so the chips would not bind up as much.
@em470311 ай бұрын
Yea, for sure. Sadly in my area its hard to find skip chains, so I modified my existing chain by grinding down every 3rd tooth (what some people would call redneck-skip mod). It made a big difference.

15:27 when the saw is running I’ve heard if you hold the button then lever it it locks the oiler in full or the process is vise versa
@larrywarner931422 күн бұрын
Non no , that pin is the throttle lock when cold starting that saw , the oil doesn't lock . 🤔
@henrykurish22 күн бұрын
@ I’m not talking about the throttle lock I’m talking about the oil switch the oiler does lock

I bought a 3120xp and it lasted for one job and then I returned it. It had a knocking sound right out of the box with the same 50:1 mixture I use for my other equipment. The knocking sound didn't go away.

yowch. I would not be happy with that. I just didn't want the vibration that comes with a Stihl chainsaw.

When you rung the tree with the smaller saw you should have cut a starter slot in the middle. Then you can put the chain brake on, pick the bar up in 1 hand and the saw in the other and slide it in the starter slot.

I gotta ask, why did you tackle the biggest tree in you career with a chain that you knew was dull cos you hit the dirt with it?

This is my go to mill saw, only I added pips and had it ported. It’s snappy now.
@matthewbutcher203 Жыл бұрын
Don't get me wrong any excuse to buy a new saw but that 661 will run a 42" bar and would have easily taken that tree. I mill with a 660 and a 42" bar, handles it no problems! A 3120 or 881 is definitely on my bucket list though even if all i ever do is fire it up and buck firewood simply to hear it run lol
@em470311 ай бұрын
Ikr? A 661 can run a 50" skip with oiler opened to the max. Getting this saw just for this makes no sense. I got an 881 but I also use it for milling with a 60" bar, so yea it was worth it as it's miles ahead of a 90 cc saw in milling speed.

I have a 3120 with a 66 inch bar the only time I have any trouble is in green soft wood The wood in Australia is normally fairly hard

I lost it when you were cutting into that tree and the chain came off😂

I believe the 3120 has an adjustable chain lube mechanism. Perhaps a little more lube for that monter bar.

Why speed it up, I want to hear the saw.
@easyeddystrees Жыл бұрын
Sorry. I either have to make the video really long and people click out, or I have to speed it up. Sometimes it's hard to know what people want.
@WoodeverWorks11 ай бұрын
I'm confused as to why you needed a larger saw and bar to cut through anything other than a red wood when you already have a 661 with a 36" bar.. ?

Yep you're right and I did that at a certain point in this process. But I am very unused to this saw and the skip chain, and with the saw getting stuck so much it was just hard to tell what the problem was. TBH I thought it was dull from the first trial run the other day but it's a Carlton chain and they are slow cutters to begin with so I couldn't actually tell.
@BruceMyersLBZ Жыл бұрын
@@easyeddystrees yeah, just the bar sag alone made it look rough, having to "walk it in" level n all. Im a firewood guy/ landowner, not a pro by any stretch but i HATE running or watching anyone else struggling w a dull/ shit chain. Im gradually transitioning from Oregon powercuts into stihl rs and/or c83 line. Anymore, the oregons factory grind is crap, rakers too high etc. Have to hand dress out of the box. Anyhow, looked awsome, n slightly more capable than my "masterminded" dolmar 7900 lol. I do love me "big" saw 7900 tho..
@1208bronco Жыл бұрын
Don't waste your time with that big cannon bar , it's too much maintenance, you can do that tree with a 32 or 42in chain , might take a little longer but it's possible, a 395 or 390 and a Husqvarna 592 can do that tree
@larrywarner931422 күн бұрын
Guys like this guy that has no experience operating big saw like this one shouldn't use them, if you notice how that chain blew off and hit his legs thats not good , im not saying hes dumb or anything, but i have 24 years of experience running chainsaws and i have issues with large saws like the one hes operating, so just be cautious when buying and running this big saw .
